am i giving my horse skin illness???

I was going to ask for some more info. What are you using on your horse that could possibly give him an illness? I don't think anything that has to do with hair length could really hurt him. So please elaborate on what's going on.

i use a cream made for horses for long hair to help their wintercoat fall out, but my ex-best friend (she made fun of my new pony) says this can cause serious skin illness as my horse has short hair.
