You could maybe look on equine.com or dreamhorse.com. Maybe that would help a little!

Are you in the UK? If so, try http://thehorseexchange.com

I checked there when I was looking for a horse, and noticed it geared mainly towards people in the UK :]

be careful of horses that you think are a great deal. Sometimes they're on sale cuz of some problem.

Google search local equine rescues in your town, often enough they have some ponies that could be good at anything you put them towards, and if your local rescue doesn't have one they may be able to connect you with a rescue who does. There are tons of ponies out there that have been neglected or abused that need a second chance to have a great life.

If a deal seems too good to be true ask the seller if it would be ok to have them vetted. If they decline then they are selling the ponies under false pretences. Its illegal without passports too.
