Bertie my 19 yr old Shetland was diagnosed with arthritis in his fetlocks, stifles and hocks the other day. The vet said it's a common problem in the tiny ones...anyone else got the same problem and what do you do to keep it under control?? He's already on glucosamine powder and Devil's claw liquid.
Tis a shame, he's a happy little chap normally but now he gets very stiff and grumpy with it!

Awwww poor little guy! Hope you find something, arthritis isn't fun, my older dog was born with it, she also has hip-dysplasia. Try to find a good pain med :) Give your pony a hug from me!

Is there anything like a cartrophen injection but for horses?!? I don't know if u can give horses cartrophen to horses but i know you can give it to dogs...
It lubricated then joints so that it does have then pain that arthitis gives it.
With dogs they have a course of four injections each one a week apart then its just topped up when needed... it works very well in some not... but not all... and it wont mess up their kidneys unlike most pain killers will when u are on them for a long time... like metacam... but it all depends... it may not...
Ive gone off the topic of horses and gone onto dogs... but I have no idea if they do it for horses... maybe there is something similar... ask your vet... if anyone, they will know about it! :D
Hope you get it sorted

Are you in the UK? Im not sure if you can get this stuff in the US but its called cortaflex. Its good for general wear n tear on elderly joints, i used to give it to clyde as he was athritic. Worked wonders too.
