Hi, I have never been much for showing. But i went to one with a friend and thought i might practice some things with my horse. The show is VERY low key.
What are yalls faves?
Thanks for any info!!

I love Western Pleasure and trail in hand. Halter can be fun. If you're good at memorizing things, showmanship is fun as long as you know the pattern. Obedience is a lot of fun, almost like Simon says. Then of course, the fun classes are always a blast, especially Musical Sacs, the Arena Race and stuff like that. :)

What I like are the fun shows and stuff. But at real shows i do halter, western pleasure, equitation, and some showmanship (since my friend talked me into it).

i absolutely LOVE western pleasure. i show at Paint shows so its more hard core than the open or schooling shows. besides western pleasure i show halter, showmanship(i was the 14-18 youth showmanship champion for 2005), trail, horsemanship, HUS, huntseat, equitation, and sometimes hunter/jumper. if your horse can get really nice and collected and is very flat-kneed and slow but has forward motion, i would recommend western pleasure. if your horse doesn't do so well with staying on the rail but does good with patterns, i would recommend horsemanship, equitation, and trail. are you going to be showing at open and schooling shows or breed shows?

the in hand trail class is just a trail class that you do while leading your horse. it's kind of like showmanship but just doing it with trail obstacles. it's a very simple class.
