Just be careful when you're buying saddles. I suggest getting real leather because the synthetic saddles don't hold up as well. The real leather is more expensive but lasts much longer than synthetic saddles. Oh, and I really like the Corbette brand saddles. I ride in a corbette, I think it's an all purpose, and I love it!
Hope this helps you out with saddle searching!

Yes, I am looking into Real leather saddles. So Wintec is out of the question. But I really like Pessoa's. I've been riding in my trainer's Pessoa, and I LOVE it. But unfortunately, even used leather Pessoa's are out of my range money wise. :/
Normally, Beval isn't too pricey when you find one used. Mine was given to me by my old trainer two years ago, used, and is still in amazing shape. I had the leather in the seat replaced after i got it, and it fits my saddlebred perfectly. My sister jokes that it's uncomfortable for her to ride in because it has molded to my butt.
They are amazing saddles but new they are very expensive! Around $1,300 to $2,000. Go on eBay and just search Beval saddles. You're almost sure to find one.
A cheaper saddle would be the Lancer brand. I don't like them as much, but they're not bad and the all-purpose saddles aren't too shabby. Good luck and let us know what you find!

A used saddle is fine, like others have said, but---make sure the tree is in good condition, and that it fits your horse's back. A bad tree will not support the saddle properly, causing your horse's back to get sore.
Synthetic is good, but leather will hold up longer. Are you looking for a show or pleasure saddle? I'm guessing show.
Look at www.statelinetack.com (http://www.statelinetack.com); they have some nice saddles, and shipping is reasonable.
Good luck and happy saddle shopping! :)

Well I'm looking at an HDR saddle. I've heard a lot of good things from them. Besides, They are cheap-er than the one's I've been looking at. :]. So fingers crossed that it is a good one.

I have an HDR and I like it..but I want a Devacoux or Antares. HDR's are very stiff, it's OK, but Pessoa's are WAY better.
here is a website for a used one for $300

I just got an used HDR & love it (:
If you have any tack shops around you, check to see if they have any used saddles. Sometimes you can find one that's in good condition & already broken in for a decent price (:

I wouldn't suggest buying off of eBay or sites like it, just because you can't be exactly sure what you're going to be stuck with. Play it safe and buy from a reputable saddlery. ;)

honestly i suggest splurging a bit on saddle that you really feel good in and that is of good quality. and as you probably know you should always try it and ride in it for a week or more to make sure you like it and to make sure you sit well, etc. i almost bought a saddle that made my legs ache so bad because i just thought it was these old stirrup leathers i was using. lo and behold, it was the saddle. anyways, i don't envy you, a saddle is a big deal, or it was atleast for me. anyways, good luck =)

If you want something that will last you, you're probably going to have to pay for it. $700 will get you a decent saddle, but if you want to get a great saddle (even used), you're really going to have to pay upwards into the $1200 range. If you can't afford it now, I would save up for one that will last you instead of getting a mediocre one now and wanting a better one in the future. Beside some wear and tear, a quality saddle could seriously last a lifetime.

I ride in a Devocoux Oldara and love it.... it has a raised twist and four (instead of two) points of contact. I got mine in buffalo leather and love. it.... new, they are pretty pricey, but i think you might be able to buy a used one... i won't ride in anything but Devocoux's. thats how much i love it

I really like Stubben Saddles. They last forever and fit most horses very well. They are great jumper saddles because you feel very secure over big jumps. You should be able to get one for 700 or under that is in great condition. Try the Siegfried It's a great all purpose Stubben.
