I need to teach my new arab how to show in halter. I know how to set up a quarterhorse as I show them in halter and showmanship, but I do not know how to make an arab set like that. I can make her park if I move her feet but I do not know how to arch her neck and make her stand prouder. Any advice would be appreciated.

if you have the feet right, ur deff on the right track. Whips are actually allowed in arabian halter classes. Exibetors (sp) wave them either above the horses head to get it to look up at the whip or under their chin to get them to move away from the tip.
I had a friend who showed halter horses. When she was teaching a baby to stand "square" she would set them up any time she was leading it any where. Walking out of the stall she would set them up, stopping at the mounting block; set them up, stoping at the wash rack; set them up, etc. It's tedious and time consuming but eventually the set themselves up every time they stop.
don't know much about arabians but hope this helps. :)

are you trying to teach both luna and madrona??? teach them a specific word... shaz's is STRETCH. I gently tug on his halter and all he does is stretch out his front feet without moving his hind end... I dont think he will EVER be as spirited as the horses in the arena but I am definitely going to keep an eye on this sight... poor shaz would probably stretch until he fell over or his belly touches the ground without moving his back legs... haha, goof ball
