View Full Version : HOT or NOT ???
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 05:50 PM
Haha, here's just a little game if anyone wants to play (:
I'll start by saying an item of fashion that's in the horse world & you reply by saying if you think it's hot or not. then you say an item & so on. hope that makes sense! I'm not very good at explaining.
OK...
Decorated strip on a helmet (like the IRH or GPA)
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 05:55 PM
Not. (; I prefer just the normal stripe.
Hmm...
Green hunt coat O:
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 05:56 PM
Not.
They can look OK but I prefer blue or gray. I'm traditional ;)
Sparkly bell boots?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 05:58 PM
(Yaaay! I agree, my favorite is blue.)
Hot!
Gus would love them... I've been meaning to buy them for him for aaaages.
Mm...
Black breeches?
StarGirl
06-23-2007, 06:02 PM
Not.
Just my opinion, and I'm a western rider, but I have to admit I admire how the tan breaches look, I don't think black look too great...
Bling on the bridle...
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:07 PM
Hot
I like bling on the browband. Especially for dressage - it looks neat.
Colorful half chaps? (like pink, blue, purple, etc)
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:07 PM
Agreed. But too much bling is never good.
Hmm, not. I like good old black or brown.
Superduperlongshownames?
(Super duper long show names, haha)
StarGirl
06-23-2007, 06:13 PM
Notifthenameislongerthantheclass.
lol. But my horse's name is Skip A Stormy Star...that's not too long... ok, um...
Combined English and Western Classes (like walk/trot)
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:18 PM
Hmmm.
That's hard. I'm going to say Not because I prefer short & sweet (& simple, haha) but some of the names can be cute. As long as they're not too hard to pronounce, then they're fine. (:
zocks? (those tall boots socks)
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:21 PM
Whoops!
I'll answer the combined walk/trot question.
I've never heard of that!
Um. Not because the two disciplines should be judged separately? I don't know! If I watched one maybe I'd feel differently! (:
OK. Zocks?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:22 PM
1.) Mmm, I've never heard of classes like that, but I'd say not.
2.) Zocks? Hot. (:
Hrmmm...
Big people on little ponies?
(This is easy.)
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:24 PM
Not! I feel bad for the ponies! Especially if the person's chubby. If they're just really tall than it's not quite as bad.
Jumps with lots of flowers!
StarGirl
06-23-2007, 06:25 PM
1.) Mmm, I've never heard of classes like that, but I'd say not.
They have them at our local shows and I hate them! What is the judge looking for with English and Western riders? ugh..anyways...
Jumps with lots of flowers = hot! Course, I'm not a jumper...but they're pretty...
Um...pink spurs!
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:28 PM
Hot... for just schooling, though! Not at shows.
Colored show shirts!
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:29 PM
Hot.
Although white is always bessst.
Hmm...
Albino (cremello) horses.
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:32 PM
Yep you definitely can't go wrong with white ;)
Hot! They're so pretty! Especially their eyes!
Which leads me to...
Horses with blue eyes?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:33 PM
Hot IF both eyes are blue. (:
Hmmm... white stockings above the knees/hocks on all fours?
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:36 PM
Hot! Gotta love that chrome (:
Zip-up tall boots?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:37 PM
VERY HOT. Hate pull-ons. (:
Hrrrmm... numbers pinned to saddle pad (as opposed to tied on rider's back).
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:42 PM
Not.
It makes it harder for the judge, I'd think, since he asks for everyone to stand with their numbers facing him. But I guess it depends on the discipline.
Saddle pads with the horse's name on it?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:43 PM
At home: HOT.
At shows: NOT.
Umm...
dappled bays? (:
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:45 PM

Manes that are like mohawks?
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 06:51 PM
Not. O: Or when they roach manes for jumpers / polo ponies... ew ew ewwie. I like a full head of hair on my horse, thankyouverymuch.
Liverpool jumps? ( Scary! O: )
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 06:59 PM
Roach! That's the proper term for it, thank you! (: Ohhh! I volunteered at this therapeutic (sp?) riding center that was near polo farms so I saw all of the polo ponies... they cut their forelocks, shave their mane so there's like nothing & shave their tail, as well... poor horsies ): I love my horse's hair!
But anyway...
I'm going to say NOT for the liverpools! Scary stuff! My horse can barely handle the brush let alone that!
Monogrammed bags for your saddle, bridle, tall boots, show jacket, etc...
jilllovesgus
06-23-2007, 07:00 PM
HOTHOTHOTHOT. I love monograms. So much. <3
Erm.
Crazy horses. (:
thegrayhorse
06-23-2007, 07:03 PM
As long as they're not dangerous (: A little craziness keeps things interesting, haha (:
Hmm.
Cordless clippers?
StarGirl

[QUOTE=Hrrrmm... numbers pinned to saddle pad (as opposed to tied on rider's back).[/QUOTE]
I personally like numbers because they make the rider look more updated and crisp. Its also handy when you are showing a bunch of different horses. so HOT to the number on the saddle pad

Pink gloves O:
alliekk

alliekk
06-24-2007, 04:59 PM

hair coming out as in fly-aways or in a pony-tail? we agreed that we liked curled hair as opposed to in a neat bun...if thats what you're talking about...
Hair coming out in a pony tail, I mean. Like, as opposed to when hair is put up inside the helmet... that's how I usually ride. It's a lot cooler on my neck and I think it looks more proff. (:
alliekk
06-24-2007, 05:05 PM
young and crazy, they're fun for jumping and gaming. old ones are just nags... at least mine is. he's soo bitter it's not even funny!!!

Hmm...packaged horse treats?
ForeverEquine
06-24-2007, 06:21 PM
I say NOT to the packaged treats. None of my horses ever liked them. Fresh treats all the way.

Just wanted to comment on this: I don't get the whole banded, short short short manes....long manes look so much more natural...I own a Qh WP mare, and I've been growing her mane out since I got her in January...looks much more natural, more beautiful, and with her hair type, it won't bounce like a short mane will. :)
ForeverEquine
06-24-2007, 06:50 PM
Not.
I think english looks best without.
Horse body painting...? I've seen them do it in parades.

uhh ... [again if i repeat one i apologize!]
rust-colored breeches?
pretty old-school. i like them on some horses with certain jackets but they probably wouldn't go with my jacket/horse. lol.
jilllovesgus
06-25-2007, 07:50 AM
Hrrrm... most of the time not. Unless someone REALLY wears them right... other than that they usually look kind of odd, IMO.
Big giant fuzzies on bridle nosebands...

HorseDayz11
06-25-2007, 11:55 AM
Hot. I like long show names, but the horse of a nickname. I rather a unique one word name like Vezzoso or something.

ForeverEquine
06-25-2007, 05:18 PM
Really? I've never had the chance to show in any real discipline so I wasn't sure if it was a rule or not.
As for the trail class, HOT. I think it's good for horses to learn all that versatility.

Hrrrrrrmmmmmm...
Oh!
Smiling in a show?
(Personally I think it's tacky when people trot around with those fake plastic smiles, but I love when people actually smile and laugh at their own in the showring if they do something cute or silly.)
ashleygoesrawr
06-25-2007, 06:21 PM
glitter, not. but i mean the only horses who wear it are like parade horses so i guess it looks cute on them =)

Umm... I'm at a loss, somebody else go.
ashleygoesrawr
06-25-2007, 06:31 PM
not. i just don't like miniature horses at all. or they make me laugh and i feel rude for laughing at the people. i mean yeah they're funny and cute but they're basically useless, honestly. and they always get sick more than big horses [or so a vet i know has told me].
ummm i can't think of anything ....
thoroughbredy-type hunters? [i mean the uber uber skinny and slender ones. i don't know ... i like the warmblood look but not the huge chunkers, just a nice medium type. but of course i'm partial =D]
jilllovesgus
06-25-2007, 06:33 PM
Not. I prefer the warmblood look too.
Then again, there are those chunkier thoroughbreds (Gussity!) which I do quite like as hunters, but I hate those underweight, skinny necked things that jump awkwardly and ewww... yepp.
Rodeos?
(I'm personally not a fan.)
ashleygoesrawr
06-25-2007, 06:37 PM
gus looks like a good TB hunter =D just the right amount of chunk for a TB haha =D he's adorable.
rodeos ... hot. some of those bullriders .. damn lol. but bullriding is about the only thing i watch. but yeah. i can't deny i was born into a western-riding, old country music-loving, rodeo-watching family lol. still comes out at time rofl.
those printed [zebra, rainbow, etc] gloves for riding at home? [i think they're sort of tacky. i don't use gloves at home.]

(Personally I think it's tacky when people trot around with those fake plastic smiles, but I love when people actually smile and laugh at their own in the showring if they do something cute or silly.)

helmets in western pleasure
alliekk
06-26-2007, 11:37 PM
I also saw earlier that someone doesn't like long manes? YOU'RE WEIRD!!! arabians are supposed to have long manes. as for western pleasure horses having long manes, I don't like it because they make the neck look fat which makes the horse look front heavy, causing him to be put in the bottom of the class for not looking balanced. just my opinion tho.

Not if the tack's mostly Hot Pink! If it has just a few little Hot Pink details then it might be ok.

I'm at Chestnut hill, you get to create your own horse and rider and every thing! The best part about it is you don't have to pay any virtual money to play, you get to do what ever. Check it out at
http://xoxohorsesxoxo.proboards102.com/ I love it !!
horses going gray hot to me I really like gray horses.
Spray paint? not, washable paint pretty cool. We stamped our horses at school with washable paint and dressed them up for a fund raiser pony rides, they were so cute!
How about colorful and patterned horse blankets and rugs?
