Max is currently getting switched over to a different feed but he gets fed:
(both day and night: )
1/2 cup cornoil
3 Pounds Phase 4 Active Pleasure Horse
altho we are currently going to switch him to:
1/2 cup cornoil (we are hoping we can cut that soon)
3 pounds Dumor MareandFoal feed.
Has anyone heard of giving a gelding mare and foal feed? he needs to gain weight and it has 6% MORE of what hes getting now. Our barn owner suggested it.
ANYWAYS what does your horse get fed? :)

Does the garlic powder work for the flies? Do you put any fly spray on?

Regal's on a custom blend feed done by a local mill down here, topped off with "bug check" in the PM. It's supposed to have all the garlic and extract goodness to keep the flies off, but he's been on it for 3 weeks and I still find bloody bites on him when I turn him out even for 15 or 20 minutes.

Well I just started giving them garlic powder last week and so far I've noticed that the flies haven't been as bad. I still put fly spray on them every few days just to make sure I'm keeping the majority of them away.

Broad gets:
1/8 of a large coffee can of sweet feed (1/2 of a small coffee can)
One scoop TriFlex (AM/PM. It's her joint supplement)
One scoop Equishine (AM)
I sometimes help do grain in the morning, so that's how I know the conversion with the sweet feed.

AM
3lbs of soaked alfalfa cubes
1 cup of vegetable oil
1 scoop of electrolytes
.65kg of Equilizer vitamins
PM
3 1/2 lbs of soaked alfalfa cubes
1 cup of vegetable oil
.65kg of Equilizer vitamins
Does anyone know of a very hi-fat feed that's low in starches and sugars? My horse has EPSSM ( see my post in Wellness about tying up for details), and needs to put on 250lbs, but its really difficult for a horse thats on a fat derived energy feed. He gets all the hay he wants, but he can't have things like sweet feed to put on weight.
Any suggestions?

I noticed all your horse's feed is soaked. Does he have issues with colic?
We put an alfalfa pellet barrel in front of all ours that need to gain weight. It stays full and they can just nibble on it all day long.
