!YAY!
It's finally that time again!
That just came to KC.
There where (rounded DOWN) 1,500 more people there than last year!

I LOVE Parelli!
It's western and english, though I do western.
Many people thin it's a different style of riding, like english and western are different, but it's NOT.
The thing about this is,
you learn to Savvy your horse.

What does that mean?
You learn to understand your horse.
You know what to do, how to do it, when to do it, where to do it, and why your doing it all at once without even THINKING.

Another thing about this,
it WORKS.

I was in a situation where a girl had been barrel racing my horse behind my back (LONG story), anyway, one day I was riding him.
I wanted to ride in the big arena first, but my grandma told me it would be best to always let your horse play a little while in the round pen first, to get the edge off of them. Well, I was practicing my position in my saddle.
I was bending down and touching my toes to make sure my seat was right.
When leaned over to touch the toe of my boot, the next thing I know my horse jumps ten feet the other way. He kept doing, no matter what side I did it on. Then he suddenly took off. Finally I stopped him with an emergency stop. My grandma ran up and grabbed hold of his rein. I started to get off when he reared up and pulled the reins from my grandma's hands, and took off galloping with me still only halfway off.
He would'nt stop.
I kept swearing to myself NOT to let go of that saddlehorn when my grandma told me to jump off. I did and landed square on my feet, rn to the gate, threw myself down and rolled under, getting right back up on my feet.
I was scared.
My grandma worked with him.
He would'nt calm down...

A few days later we come up and my horse is GONE!
We look around but find nothing.
We're getting ready to leave when we hear a horse SQUEEL in fear.

I turn and look towards the trail path and see another girl running up on my horse, spurring him, and a tie-down on him.
When she saw us, oh the look in her eyes.
She did'nt know we were coming.
The first thing that girl said was:
"Are you the owner of this horse?"
I won't say what I replied to her.
There where tracks around the barrels, and he was sweating like crazy and just as jumpy.
She had been running him, HARD.

All y'all barrel racers know what running does to a horse.
because of her,
I could have been hurt seriously.
I became afraid to ride horses.
Then one day on another feared ride,
we pulled up in the car and a new horse was there.
This bay arabian.
Well,
I just had this feeling about him.
The owner of the stables said he was hard to catch.
When I went in his pen, he walked right up to me.
Suddenly, I forgot about everything that happened, and rode that horse bareback right then and there in his pen.
A few days later, I sold my horse and bought that arab seconds later.
He still my horse.
But when I rode out of ordinary places, or out of the arenas, I could'nt get over that fear.
So my grandma found out about this Parelli, and went to one of their seminars.
I loved it.
I started trying it the very next day.
We do it to this day and are now Savvy Club Members.
I'm almost COMPLETELY over my fears.
Both me AND my horse (yes, an ARABIAN) can ride confidently on trails now.
I'm not afraid to try new things, and I understand my horse more than ever before.
What many people don't know,
is that they don't know what they don't know.
Half of them don't know what they DOknow,
let alone know what they DON'T know,
you know?
Trust me, if you take the time to just go and watch one of these, and watch and LISTEN (there IS a difference between hearing and listening), you'll understand.
Parelli is about training you, NOT your horse.
You'll get it once you try it.
One thing,
if you're looking for a
'Quick Fix',
your reading the wrong thread,
'cause this ain't it.
People don't understand.
There is no such thing as a 'quick fix' in the horse world.
There may be an 'easy' way to cruelly fix one problem, but because of the way you did it, it will just cause another, one prabably even worse.
Just TRY this for ONE MONTH,
I guarentee,
you WON'T regret it.

Yup, I do Parelli :) It's so much fun!! My horse and I completed Level One in less than a week....I am in Level Two right now....the horse I'm doing it with is the one named She's All Girl Talk. It's helped her a little, but I'm really trying to work on the riding part. She's perfect with ground work, it's just the riding we are having trouble with. I'm glad there is someone else here who does Parelli :)

I've found its hard to find people who have horses at my school who do parelli and all the trainers who use similar methods never mention his name. Ive trained (or started at least) all my horses at parelli natural horsemanshipand it shows great results.
Haha its even gotten to the point where im at a horse show and someone is telling a way to get there horse to act and i get so BLEEPING frustrated because they talk down about parelli all the time while making absolutely idiotic choices on how to train a horse. It makes me want to scream that people are too stubborn to go the parelli way!

I've been thinking about trying parelli with my mare because she is so anxious and nervous about things and I'd love to see what it does with our relationship. The problem is money, lol

in all honesty, I think Parelli is AMAZING, the only thing I DON'T like about it is how Pat and Linda present it, they present it like it is Some kind of magic and that they are the only ones who poses this magical power.. But wait! now you to can become a wizard too! lol, they're are a quite a few natural horsemanship people who do parelli type stuff. But DON'T get me wrong! I think Parelli is cool, that's just the one thing about it that bothers me.

I really do like Parelli and think it does help a lot. My favorite part of Parelli is watching Linda, lol....In all honesty when I'm watching Pat I just don't like him much. When Pat gets on the DVDs he presents his stuff as if he is superior to everyone else, teaching it like the people watching the DVD are stupid. Linda, on the other hand, is really funny and I enjoy watching her teach....lol....which is why I'm glad Linda is the one on most of the DVDs.

i agree. i love their methods but he does kinda talk down to ppl... but linda knows how it feels to witness and be amazed so she relates better to the ppl in the audience. :D

i really dont get offended by other ppls opinions unless they support something thats cruel to a horse... as for parelli... i support the concept rather than the ppl who came up with it :D

i think perelli is the greatest.
corse i dont use it on bunny cuz she isnt crazy, not trusting, and she has bad wheels so i cant do ne ground work w/ her

But next horse i so want to try it out
