thoroughbreds
they are usually a good size for most people, very athletic, amazing jumpers if trained right, and although they can be very touchy when riding, if you ride them the right way they'll put all their heart in it, also they usually aren't very lazy, like a lot of warmbloods. Oh and i can't forget they are just a beautiful, intelligent breed. I've ridden mostly thoroughbreds and I like them way better than any other breed, for jumping atleast. For the western sports i'm all about the quarter horses.

Thoroughbred! I'm a noob but I love em! Gawd, there's so gorgeous.

I also love the Irish Draught/Sporthorse. Just as good as the TB.

I will have to go with Paints because they can come in so many different forms. I have owned many Paints and none of them have been built exactly the same. Currently I have four Paints. One is built like a tb, one looks arab, one is built the QH way, and the last is built like a tank....she is really tall but stocky also, lol....

Thoroughbreds.

Maybe I'm biased because I have one, but even before I got my horse, I loved thoroughbreds. I love their drive and personalities. They're unpredictable. I go out to the barn some days and Wes is calm and docile, and there are other days where he can be so crazy that I'm not sure if I'll make it out alive. I love that, I love having a new "experience" every time I'm with my horse :]

I love Kentucky Mountain Saddle horses!! I love gaited breeds in general but I rate Ky. Mt horses at the top, they have a gait as smooth as butter. I love Rocky Mt horses too. :) :)

Yikes, hard question.

I guess overall it'd have to be Thoroughbred, because I've always loved them, and I own one =)

They are so versatile - and their confirmation CAN alter. They can do western (I know alot of you hate western TBs, but some of them are amazing at it), jumping, racing (many kinds - steeplchase, chuckwagon, etc), they are intelligent horses, and just WONDERFUL.

For ponies I'd put the Connemara. They are awesome jumpers and very sweet. Plus Broc is one, lol.

Warmbloods...I like all of them, especially Hanovarians, and Selle Francias.

Other...I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Mustangs and Andalusians. Soooo much. And Friesiens are right behind. =)

Any good horse, no matter the breed...though I have a slight bias toward QH's due to their versatility for just about anything, whether it's ranch work, dressage, jumping, WP, Halter, reining, cutting, the works, QH's excel in everything, they're awesome...

And also, QH's have great temperments....:D

But any good horse.lol.

Warmbloods are my favorite; they are the ultimate jumping machine. Most of the ones I've known are incredibly personable [but what horse isn't, given the right treatment?] and I know mine is literally a big dog. I just love their conformation and look best of all.

I also like Thoroughbreds a fair bit. My first horse was only half TB [we have no idea what the other half was - I believe it was some warmblood but who knows] but she looked very Thoroughbredy before I really built up her hind end. She was one of the most loyal horses ever, and she truly had immense heart and would never quit on you. She is now a jumper [we had done hunters] and her new owner loves her never-say-die attitude just as much as I do.

I think what breed you like has a lot to do with what discipline you ride, in regards to what is best suited to what.

I would have to say Paints are my favorite both of my Stallions are Paint, although Casper is quarterhorse too. I just love the surprise of what coloring they will be born with. My mom raises quarterhorses ( they are mostly mine, as I am the only one that does everything, she just owns the papers) and they are great, But if I was going to go quarterhorse it would be strictly palomino or buckskin.

As much as I love my Morgan mare, Thoroughbreds are definately my number one.

My dreams have focused around them and I want that to continue. [:

Im pretty sure that most of them are pintos. To be a Paint, they have to be stock/QH horse type. If they don't then its just a color not a breed.

Breeds don't matter much to me if the horse is good. But some of my favorites are quarter horses, mustangs, arabians, morgans, paints, kentucky montains, walkers, minis, appys, and most drafts. I don't care much for thoroughbreds, i don't know why. Proubly just because i like the western type more.

Just for the record, Paints can come in all shapes and sizes. To be a paint, they just have to have paint parents. Not all paints look like stocky Qhs, just like not all Qh's look like stocky Qh's.....:)

and breeding stock paints dont even have spots. Personally I think that is ridiculous but......... they didn't ask me. :D

PS Buckskins hands down win my vote for best color but QH are my fav breed. What other type of horse is capable of running a 18 sec barrell pattern, flawlessly jumping a 3 ft fence and winning a western pleasure class all in the same show???? Can't beat the Great American Quarter! :)

I have a soft spot for color though, dapples and bays + chrome. Sporthorses, really.

And for the parent to be considered a paint, they have to have pinto coloring and be eighter QH type or registered with the thouroghbred racing organization thing, who's name slips my mind. And arabian with pinto coloring is not a paint, its an arabian.

I didn't read the second page, but of the two pages that I did read I saw not one Arabian!!! shame on you people!!! haha... Is it not Arabian blood that flows through most, if not all, breeds of horses? plus they are just so freaking GORGEOUS!!! yeah, I'm a little biased, all of my big horses are at least half Arabian!

My bad, there were like 4 mentions of Arabs, I still love 'em though!!!

ummm....a paint horse does not have to be pinto colored, hence breeding stock paints....they are not pinto colored....Also, every single one of my paints that I have owned have papers registered with the APHA (American Paint Horse Association). All of them are built differently but they are all registered Paints. In order for a horse to be registered as a Paint it has to have one registered Paint parent.

well, I do love my Swedish Warmblood gelding. He's amazing. Perefect tempterment... I can do anything with him, hes actually more like a dog than a horse. But if I had to choose my favorite breed, I guess it wouldnt be a breed at all... its a hybrid.

a mule! :)
They are amazing creatures, with alot of qualities that are superior to horses, and have the coolest attitudes. Plus, their big ole' floppy ears are just so cute! :D

ug, mules? I'm sorry, they are just too ugly for me to love... I'm sure if I had one of my own (it would have to be half arabian) I would fall in love... I just cant get over the oversized head

Arabians!! I own a half arabian and have always rode an arabian before i got my horse...they are spunky and fast...they have many different personalities too! I love how my horse has the gaits like the arabian but is quiet like the quarter horse(part quarter too!). Even though he can be a butthead sometimes i love him and dont know what i would do without him!
