I am on another site that deals with horses too but id like all of your opinions on my mare Baby & how she is coming alone with her collecting. It is hard to believe but she has only been working on collection for about a month! I worked with her in a shank bit & transfered her to the snaffle; i know alot of you will disagree but the shank actually HELPED her learn to collect! :p

This is me & Baby at a walk… notice her head isn’t in my face

Nice pictures! She looks nice, good work! And yes, I loved the outfit, you remeind me of me. I have a light blue saddle with black, and a bright blue and red saddle pad...ah, I match so well *sarcasm* hehe. As long as it's comfortable, I don't think my horse cares what she's wearing, or what I'm wearing! :D

Your horse is very pretty but does she always pull on you that much or just when you are working on collecting her??

She don't really pull, shes still learning. In most of them pictures she wasn't pulling on me at all. I was just keeping the reins firm because she was being cranky & trying to buck. I didn't lounge her much before I got on her & she is a BUNDLE of energy if she isn't lounged.

I was wondering if all you can tell me how well she is collecting? Is she on the right track? Or is she completely off?

She's on the right track but you really need more impulsion. She's getting cranky and resisting because she's not using her butt. Once her butt is underneath herself and she is lifting and carrying herself then the head carriage comes naturally. Also make sure that you don't over-bend her to the inside.
Looks like a great start but remember to ride back to front and keep her hindend engaged.

That's exactly what I was just thinking. xD I suppose she can just get some more opinions...?

Horse looks good though - she is absolutely gorgeous. And I personally think you are on the right track, as impulsion is important, yes. But she is still only a baby. ^^
