i used to get nervous when i first got my new horse, but then i started going to show after show after show many weekends in a row, so it stopped being nerve-wracking.

to me there are two different types of nerves: the something-might-go-wrong ones and the i-hope-we-do-really-well ones.

whichever you get, just remember that it is just a show. the first big A show i went to, i blew it. i was so worried about the fact that it was an A show. i look back now and wonder why, lol. it's just another show. i especially had to be reminded that because my horse is green, and my mistakes sometimes caused more of his. there will be others. every show is just practice, no matter how big or small [and now it seems we always screw up the small local shows! haha].

anyways, just relax and have fun. easier said than done, yes. but it is possible =) and good luck!

I get nervous, but mainly because me and my horse are new together and I've barely had any lessosn in 2007 lol. Plus he gets super excited since he's still green.

But as long as you look at the big picture and try to keep that its still you and your horse doing your thing, its alot better. And try not to get too stressed.

Yeah, ashelygoesrawr, I agree. It is possible, and once you start relaxing, you'll realize that showing is more fun when you don't worry about it. When you have a cool, level headed horse it helps too - but the only way any horse will be like that is if you first are calm and relaxed.

Have fun at the show and good luck. ^^

I never really got nervous
but now im nervous cuz i think everyone is judging me for riding an appy in the hunter ring... so I think i have to make it 10 times better

Don't let your nerves get the best of you!
If you really are prepared you have nothing to worry about.
kick some ass!

You know what i found is that if you show the same circuit or in the same area all the time u start to notice "regulars", making friends at shows helped to calm me down...might work for you too!

Remember to always smile! The judges love it, and it really helps you relax.

I don't get nervous because I'm just going for fun, no matter if it's a fun show or not. If I get nervous, I tell myself I'm obviously not having any fun, and I concentrate only on having a good time, not on placing well or winning. Just have fun, Claudia!
