How hard would it be to find a Arabian trained in a Western saddle? I know I've seen them before but I wouldn't know where to start looking. :( I really like Arabians but I haven't learned how to ride English (I want to try it next summer when I get a job) I also love to trail ride and think an Arabian would make a great trail horse if I could just find one trained in a Western saddle that would be great. :)

It's not hard at all to find a western arab. you do know that converting from english to western is easier than converting western to english, right? Are you looking to buy a western arabian or are you just curious? check dreamhorse.com it's an awesome websight and most likely you will find your "dream horse." good luck in your search!

Thanks I really just want to see the market for Western Arabians I'm not quite ready for a horse yet but I'm trying to find a good one and I'm hoping I can get an Arab because of their mix of brains and beauty.

Wow that's fast, what kind of horses were they?

I'm not going to be competitive in another forum. You may have better trainers where you come from, but here in Oregon, it seems to be an easier transition from english to western because of the weight distribution on their backs, just like some horses don't like to be ridden bareback, because they don't like the weight so far up. In my opinion I think that a western saddle would be more comfortable because it doesn't center the weight so far forward on the back. That's just my opinion though.
I guess you can say that any horse can be ridden in any style, it just depends on if you have a trainer and patience.

not trying to be competitive, I've just found the transition easier. Many western all-around horses that we receive are exposed to many things, have been trailered, have good ground-manners, are level headed, etc. As a result they have a nice "can do" attitude and tend to just trot right over small crossrails and quickly figure out how to jump over small verticals. Most of these horses are qh, paints, qh crosses, qh pony crosses, and the ocassional arabian.

To the OP I'd look at both english and western arabians. Good training is good training so even if it is not trained in the specific dscipline your looking for it should be able to learn relatively quickly.

I was thinking of learning how to ride english anyhow. I have some friends who have horses who can be riden in both english and western. I wonder what other horses I could use. I'm used to riding Quarter horses but I'd like to expand what kind of horses I can ride.

I need a small, short horse trained in western. I'm short so I like horses that are shorter. Bennie (the love pony :) :) ) is a really sweet 15 hh quarter horse I rode all last fall and winter for my riding lessons. If I could buy him, I would in a heartbeat despite his age. (he's in his 20's) Older horses rock!! :D

Did I read those ads right? Are those mares both $4500, but one is green broke and the other is dead-broke? Wow....I guess I got lucky with my mare only being 2k.... I wouldn't think anyone would pay $4500 for a green-broke horse, but then again, I'm not familiar with Arab bloodlines, just QH's and Paints....

I bet they both would look amazing in Liberty classes though! :D

Belle is sooo beautiful! :D I so wish I had 4,500 dollars then I could go see her and get her checked out and I'd buy her!! And to boot she's in Ky where I go to college! I know God has the perfect horse out there for me, I just wish I didn't have to wait! :(

If you let me know which states you are willing to look at and your price range I can do some more looking around for you. I know how frustrating it is to want a horse and not to find anything that fits your needs.

I would like a horse that's not too far from Lex Kentucky. I would love to find a horse trained for trail riding. As much as I love Arabs, I wouldn't mind a good western trained horse of almost any breed. I was thinking of trying to lease a horse but I don't know what would be a good price.
