Ponyclub is like 4H, kinda. I kind of see it as ponyclub = english 4h=western, but thats not really true. But when I was younger that's how I thought it was. You (should) learn tons of things about horses from the ground up - treating wounds, anotamy, diseases, how to do things etc, and its apparently very fun. I 'heard' there was a lot of them in the states, more so then up here in canada, so you might find out and call them and ask if you want more information. Or go to the website.

And that was funky how you wrote that, for some reason it made me giggle lol. It must be the no sleep thing. Lol.

Pony clubbers are not required to own/lease a horse but must have access to one for such mounted activities as dressage, eventing, show jumping, vaulting, foxhunting, mounted games, tetrathlon, quiz, and polocrosse.

During "unmounted" meetings (where you are not required to bring a horse) members learn about feeding, shoeing, veterinary care, wrapping, shipping, etc.

Riders start out at the D level and can work upwards to eventually achieving their B or AHA. At the upper levels pony club is extremely demanding and many of the riders who have graduated from the top go on to ride in the olympics, do grandprix jumping, or open a large showing barn.

You can be a casual ponyclub member or it can be your life, it just depends on what you want to get out of it. It's also a great way to meet other local horse people, get opportunities to clinic with great trainers, and is a great network for buying and selling horses.

Pony club is an organization that was started in britian in 1928 (do hold me to that date) you haev to be over 8 to compete in rallies and become rated. pony club stresses fun and safety not just winning. you also learn about horsemanship, vet care, tack safety and cleaning, and other horse sports (polo, kur, vaulting, polocross, mounted games, terathalon(sp?)) You and you alone are responsible for getting your tack cleaned, having your horse clean, your outfit correct, and getting everything set up. at rallies(shows) you aren't allowed to haev your parents help you or to talk about your rides. at rallies you don't only ride you have turnout inspection were you are check to see if your tack is clean, if your pony is clean, if your outfit is correct, and if your bride and saddle are put on correctly. you also have to do turnback, were once you finish your ride you untack your horse and make sure there isn't a trace of sweat or dirt on him, then you fill his water, muck his stall, wipe down his saddle, bridle, girth, brush off your saddle blanket, wipe off your boots. you also haev safety checks before you ride and have to go thu the cool down process with a horse management judge. pony club also has ratings, ratings are pretty much like levels, you begin as a unrated, then move onto your D-1, D-2, D-3, then your C-1, C-2, C-3, then your B, H-A, and A. you can be in pony club until you are 25. then you have to become a trainer or somthing like that. if ya wanna know any more just pm me! Oh, here's the pc website ponyclub.org http://uspc.qx.net/USPC/uspc.asp?regionnum=200 here is the page that has clubs in your area. if you have any questions call your regional supervisors.
