Today my horse wasn't being responsive to the bit he was in [corkscrew] to my trainer gave me a western bit. He was so much better and really light.. anyway we were in a lesson so we jumped too .. in a western bit!!!
he was good ...I, however, am a different story =p
but anyway I was wondering what everyone's intake would be of jumping in a western bit.

the bit didn't have a port it nly had a link... or a roller i dont remember xD

just don't be mean in what you say =] plz

This may sound freakishly stupid, but I think it's fly. Just put the Western bit in an English bridle and you're set =].

If it gets the job done, I don't see what the problem is. I'm sure it looks silly though.

sorry to be the rude one here but it sounds like your horse is in desperate need of training. I have never met a horse that needed a curb bit to jump, ever. If you need a curb bit to school at home what are you going to do at a show where he is more nervous and "up"? He's going to run through any bit you put in his mouth.

Personally I'd go back to the basics and get to the point where he is in a smooth snaffle at home and the corkscrew is just used for tune ups and shows.

nope ... don't wanna sound rude either but he is fine at shows when i school him a lot. He gets ridden by little kids learning to jump and he gets away wiht a lot [including running through them]
I'm schooling him back down .
This bit actually makes him listen more
and i noticed he is more apt to whoa.
