ssso (!!) im getting pretty pumped to show Chance western. that is if i can get him to lope steadily by then. he tries!

anyways so far i have this stuff from my aunt (my cousin used to show now they just trail ride all around our state):

+ Circle Y Saddle (it has a bunch of silver. ill try and find the make or a pic) its dark dark brown so it looks real nice because Chance is palomino.
+ Show Bridle (eek dunno the brand. )
+ Show Halter (HOLY CRAP THE LEATHER IS SWEET!!) w/ lead
+ Light creamy color chaps
+ Hobby horse hunter green vest with tan. but it doesnt fit right? ugh.
+ Silky red show shirt (i dunno why.)
+ Green/Tan/Red show pad
+ Light brown lace up boots. cow"girl" boots would have been nice but these laceup onces are really nice!! they are like suede with light brown (like tan) with dark brown flappy things. okay im good at explaining!!

Last year:
+ Just a western saddle with little silver and a leather bridle. haha
+ Hot pink with rainbow polka dot shirt
+ Pink/Blue/Yellow plaid shirt
+ Yellow Scarf
+ Pink/Tan/Yellow/Black saddlepad. LMFAO
+ just blue jeans!
+ Black hat

im really pumped as you can tell.

Anyways i still need a hat and a new shirt. I could wear the silky red one but i really want a vest i dunno!! ope and i need a scarf. i think.

so just post what your show stuff is!! :p

I don't have any show stuff lol. I don't even have a western saddle right now because my horse is IMPOSSIBLE to fit. I would get her a custom made saddle, but that requires a lot of money that I don't have lol. I would like to show her, though.

ahh that would suck. expensive is it? maybe you could get one with that exchangable gullet thing. is that only in huntseat saddles? haha i need to do some research. max usually is good in any saddle. but he needs a narrow/medium tree and chance is just.. well my saddle fits him. hahaa *shrugg*

ok Ive been showing western pleasure, western riding and trail for a couple of years now so heres my suggestion.
Any saddle that is in good shape is perfectly fine for open shows. - Silver helps but if the saddle is flashier than the horse it looks really bad.
Bridles should match the saddle- different brands dont matter but color does.
Bits- check to make sure their legal, a couple of my friends got in trouble with this.
Show clothes-
Chaps- if you really want them go for it- their not required.
Shirts- should match reasonably with the rest of the outfit as well as vest.
Boots- Normally I show in lace ups- they tend to look a bit cleaner than traditional, their also a lot more comfy.
Just a suggestion.

I have shown AQHA, Palomino, PHA, TWHA, and several local horse clubs for years. Open shows are not so bad on what you wear as far as little shows. You open breed shows and clubs have certified judges. They look for show saddles, hat, chaps, boots are required.

Halter: Dress pants, slinky or shirt, jacket, hat, gloves

Showmanship: Same as halter

Horsemandship: Pants and chaps (match) slinky with vest that match
saddle pad, hat and gloves

Pleasure: Same outfit, but I take my gloves off

Saddle: I have a show saddle with a bridle that matches
some wear breast collars, I don't anymore.

I will tell you that if you go ahead and buy a really good show saddle like Tex-tan, Circle Y, Harris, You will have them forever, I showed in one for about 20 years, I now use it as my everyday saddle. I just took the silver off.
