Max is pretty thin. He dropped a lot of weight when we moved barns because hes turned out 12 hours and was getting not as much feed. Before he got 10pounds of grain (5 am-5pm) and was only turned out for like 4 hours.
Right now we feed him Dumor Pleasure Horse.. 14%
3 Pounds morning and night with 1 cup corn oil with each.
I dont work him everyday but usually like 4-5 times a week.
Any info on any good supplements or oils or grains to boost weight would help!!

If he's desperately thin, and won't gain weight, start him on rice bran, add some into his feed, but MAKE SURE TO SOAK IT!!! Umm... If that doesnt work, start giving him a lunch of just rice bran, its yummy!

Beet pulp...but make sure you SOAK, SOAK, SOAK it.
Also, you can add beer to his feed and make a sort of mash. Beer helps people put on weight and it works for horses too. We have a gelding who gets a beer with lunch and a beer with dinner. Otherwise he drops weight.

Hey,
Rice bran worked great for one of my trainer's thoroughbred. He was really skinny, then he got rice bran and bran mash along with some sweet feed. And he put the weight back on fast and kept it on. Also, make sure his teeth are ok. He might have a bad tooth that won't let him chew properly. Watch when he eats. See if some food will fall back out as the horse is eating. Also, not only does corn oil give a horse a shinier coat, but it fattens a horse too. Give him like 4 or 5 scoops, literally. But make sure when you feed the horse all this stuff, to add it on very gradually.

We have a great thing over in the UK called speedy beet, it's beet pulp, rolled, that soaks in 10 minutes, means you don't have to have a whole barn smelling of sugar beet.
We also get brewers mash, from a local brewer, we soak this in one bin, and the speedy beet in another, and then mix two scoops of each. My 20 yr old mare is on this 2 times a day, and holds her weight, being placed all season in veteran classes( last one two days ago) and I also use it on my show cob, to keep him in ehem...show condition ( read FAT)....
Haven't got a local brewer? Then as HHTrump76 said, add a beer to feed.

Try him on name brand alfalfa. I did that and it worked and the horse i gave the alfalfa to was 900 lbs and now he's 1300...and he has cancer! (he's always had cancer, that is why he was losing weight.) It will work, trust me.

People already said this, but....BEET PULP! It works wonders, just make sure you soak it enough, if it hasn't been soaked enough it could kill your horse! Don't worry though, soaking is simple, if you need help with it though ask your vet for how much to feed him, how many cups of water per cup of feed, hours of soaking, etc. Also a nice bran mash with oil and supplements wouldn't hurt a bit either. ^_-
Hope I helped,
