Hello,

Some professional braiders have gotten together to help donate money to the USEF Katrina relief fund for horses. We are offering Lucky Braids at the Oregon Year End Horse Show Sept 15 - 17 being held in Eugene Oregon. We will give your horse a Lucky braid by request anyday you designate for a $5.00 donation to the USEF relief fund. We will if possible make some pom-poms to use.
If any younger riders out there want to make the pom-poms for donation of time we will give them courtesy lucky/pom-pom braid. We would be happy to show them how to make the pom-poms as well.
I personally will donate $2.50 per lucky braid to the fund. I challenge the trainers, owners and show management to match my donation. I believe some of the other braiders are willing to do this as well.
Lets see how much money we can raise to help the animals!!!

I also challenge any other braiders at other horse shows a cross the country to do the same.

Hi,

You wrap the yarn around 2 fingers spread apart about and inch until you have alot of yarn built up. Then take it off your fingers without losing the middle section. Tie 2 pieces of longer yarn thru the middle section and again around the whole thing. Next cut the yarn loops and then trim it down to a size you like. :)

Good Luck!!

Hello,

Well I did not get a very good response to my challenge even after having the show announcer hype it. I ended up giving everyone I braid for Lucky braids for the last day of the horse show. I left them all notes that if they like their Lucky Braid to please donate to USEF Katrina Horse Fund. So, I don't have any way of following up to see how many riders may have donated. I hope quite a few did. I have just gone ahead and made my own donation.

I hope the rest of you will as well.

Happy Horse Showing!!!
