I don't like black tack (unless it's dressage) so that's one reason I don't like it. I'm not a huge fan of Schneider's either, but it doesn't look too bad.

Also, Wintecs are cheaper than that. The close contact is only $499.

Good luck with it if you decide to get it :]

Well, I have this really weird knee problem. And I need a saddle that has really nice knee pads and the saddle needs to be soft. Why dont you like this brand Manda?

I know nothing of the brand, I've just noticed that a lot of the stuff I've bought from Schneider's isn't of the best quality. I would suggest the wintec close contact then. I love it. It has really nice, soft knee rolls and everyone I've let ride in it has said it's one of the most comfortable they've ridden in, and it's synthetic (but looks like leather) so you don't have to worry about getting it wet or anything. :]

Yeah.I like wintecs too. But they are really pricely epcessialy for the english saddles. Now the western saddles aren't that bad. I have a western wintec and I love it!

Personally I prefer wintecs (Im a wintec fan!) but trends are a lil different over here in England! Black is my fave in saddle colour and as well as natural brown they are most popular over here!

But it is a good looking saddle...

it is, thats for sure!!

I don't know where you guys are buying your wintecs, but they are quite cheap in comparison to their leather competitors, and that's why they're cheap, because they're synthetic, but the quality is still amazing. I know I don't like schneiders, but they don't make the wintec saddles. They sell the Wintec 500 AP for $396 which is far less than the $515 for the one you're looking at. The wintec comes in both brown and black too.

I only use a wintec because at the moment I can't afford a leather saddle, but..eventually I'll get one.

I like that saddle! I LOVE black tack, ecspecially on a chestnut. I think brown looks spiffy on bays, whites, etc.

I like Wintecs, too. Just from what I have heard of them lol.

What is your knee problem? I'm not trying to be nosy, but maybe if it's bad, you could wear a brace or a padded sort of thing when you ride to help you =].

I think my doctor thinks I have a Cyst under my skin in my knee. DixieGirl you've felt it before dont you think its really odd!! I do, I'm scared that it could become serious... :( So, If I ever want to jump again I think I might have to get a swead Wintec english saddle... becuase they have REALLY nice soft seats and soft knee blocks.

it sounds like a nice package, but wintecs are cheaper and they have been known to have better upkeep than leather. if u want a saddle, i would go with wintec, i really want one!

to be honest, i would not buy a saddle for less than $1500. that's a fair bit of money and i realize not everyone can afford that much all the time, but seriously, when you invest in a good saddle you will thank yourself later. a quality saddle will last you for a LONG time if you pay for it upfront. i'm not saying everyone needs a $3500 brand new saddle, but i really believe in paying for quality. i have had too many bad experiences with cheap saddles. they simply do not last, and they are often painful to both horse and rider and do not aid the rider's position at all.

however, regardless of what you want to spend, [and i know this is going to sound obvious] make sure you test-ride it MANY times before you hand over the money. it might fit you and your horse great; if so, then it's a great deal.

Can't say it's anything special, but I'm sure it's fine. If you want to get a very good new saddle, you'll be spending closer to $1000 and up.

I agree. But I wouldn't pay that much for a saddle when I don't have a horse in the first place. But if you can afford and want that saddle, GO FOR IT! =)

Generally, for a GOOD english saddle that is comfortable, good quality, etc, you find them over 1000 dollars, as someone said above. I've gone through 3 saddles in the past year because the saddle fitting person made a mistake, as did my trainer.

You should also check into used english saddles from a reputatle place. They are generally cheap, and as long as nothign is broken they can fit excellently.

I've never tried or seen the...Shniders? I can't remember the name, but no one I know has had one, or rode in one.

Whatever you decide, good luck =)

Sorry, but I'm NOT going to buy a $1,000 saddle!! The highest I'm going is about $650. There is this Wintec that I really like... its got a Swaed seat and swead knee blocks. And, its my size!! I think I'm going to get that... ( dont know for sure)

I hope you get one you like! Let us know! (Of course, I wouldn't buy it too because I can't spend that much on a saddle, but I'm interested in how it will go for you).

Ooh, and put up a pic of your horse wearing it! =)

I wouldn't get that saddle. If you want cheap go with a brand name. Mandas right Schniders has a bunch of that no name cheap crap, I live near them and have been in there lol.

If you can only go cheap I'd say go with Wintec, personally I think they are uncomfortable but thats me. But I do like they most of the newer ones you have the adjustable gullet, so you can find the best fit for your horse or if you end up getting another horse you can have it fit. And most of them now have the velcro knee roll thing too. My friend has a wintec, she loves it, and you could love it too. The best thing is to TRY THEM. Go to a local tack shop and plop your butt in everything thats how you'll know. When you find one you like make sure it will also work for your horse :)

Just know that depending on frequency of use, a cheaper saddle simply won't hold up as well. Chances are, you'll have to replace it sooner, and possibly end up spending more than would would by simply buying a quality saddle.
