Hi,
I think all you horse lovers are a smart group of people so what do you think of my mare? Do you think she would make a good hunter/jumper? Is she built nicely?

I've started jumping over the summer and she has NEVER tryed to miss the jump or buck or do anything bad like that... she has A LOT of energy and jumping takes it all out of her. *So far, so good!*

Oh, it does sound like she'll do just fine then. I couldn't help much because I've always ridden western and know nothing about jumping.

She's not built too bad though she's a bit downhill...whether or not that will effect her jumping I've no clue.XD Gam's also a bit downhill, wither lower than the top of the rump.
I really don't think she'll have any problem though. Good luck!

i think she has a nice build and u fit well on her, but arabians are small, she would be easy to outgrow if u wanted to get serious in the hunter/jumper world, but other than that, u and her look good together and she has a nice comformation! :)

I think she'd be a good jumper. She has a gorgeous build for an arabian. You might want to work on her canter though. In the picture of you two riding, it looks like she is trying to overpower you. Work on slowing her canter down and arching her head a little bit, so you can count each stride and make sure they are even. Make sure you are able to release pressure over the jump though and can get it back quickly.
Have you ever jumped before?
If not, try getting a trainer and an experienced horse first, so you can train your mare correctly. I hope this helps you. :]]

Yes I'm jumping about 18"-20". I also have a VERY VERY experinced hunter/jumper trainer. But I have only had 2 or 3 lessons with her.

from the picture cantering it looks like she has a high headset [which most arabs naturally do] and that is fine for a jumper but hunters frown upon that. her downhill build might make her heavy in the mouth if she does put her head down for you. you also have to consider her trot if you want to do hunters. too much knee action is also frowned upon.
pretty much any horse can/will jump over something you put in its way. the key is to have a "look" and a style that will win at shows. the hunter world is rather narrow minded in that warmbloods and sporthorses are the typical breed of choice. however, many people do compete arabs in h/j. but like someone else said she probably won't be able to take you very far if you want to get serious, like at rated shows. at local shows and stuff you could probably do okay. or you could get involved in the arabian association [if your horse is a registered pure bred]; i believe its like AQHA where you have all sorts of disciplines, inlcuding hunter stuff, but judged according to the breed [i could be wrong but i think they have hunters in the arab association].
the important thing is to follow your trainer's lead. take her advice and value her opinion =)

Downhill refers to a horse thats wither and rump are not level, the withers will be lower. Several horses a built like this. Whether it causes any problems with riding, I don't know. As I said, Gam is also downhill but we're just pleasure and trail riders.

She is really pretty and looks like a great horse. I dont know anything about jumping but she looks like she would be good at a lot of things. Creek is down hill too his withers and butt are not level.

I really like your mare =)
She's got a nice face, and very straight legs. I actually quite like her legs. She is built downhill a touch, but she looks pretty darn good. Gorgeous color too =D
