That's good about Ruby!

A tip (no, not from my experience but from reading...I haven't jumped yet!): go over *practice* jumps. Keep pretending you're jumping...do all the motions...off horse first (use a chair and a book that tells you how to do it or someone who can help). Then on Ruby, keep your eyes forward over the imaginary jump and when you get there, lift in the saddle and act like you're jumping. It might help...i hope!

I have been doing that with the practicing, but it is in my English saddle on the horse stand.... it is working better so if ruby can stay straight ( witch i have done a few times guiding with my legs) I have jumped with no reigns....

ok another question, okay you know how you have a guiding pole up to the jump sometimes like so the horse will try to avoid going around the jump.. dose i work.... in my experience it doesn't but i have heard it works,

dose anyone have an idea of like a jumping grid so my horse pays attention and doesn't just walk thou the jumps?..... oh and I have been working on my 3 point seat and ruby has on and off about stopping right in front of the jump..... any advice, i ride with a crop and i use my 3 point seat when i am going to go over a jump.

thanks for all your support cc members

I wouldn't worry if she jumps it or not until you get your position perfect.

If she is REALLY being lazy or just won't jump it, just get her going with a bit more impulsion.

My horse does that same exact thing sometimes. She just leaps over the jump. So, form my experice I give her EXTRA leg acouple steps before the jump to make her FLY over the jump! After I do that, a few times she starts understanding it and I don't have to do it anymore. Good luck! :)

LEG LEG LEG. Squeeze on the take off to have her actually jump the smaller jumps. At the canter though, she should actually jump; don't let her slow down and just step over it.

If both of you are starting out, start slow. Every day, start small and increase the height. You guys sound like you're doing fine. :)
