I was wondering if there is a diffrence between a Dressage Bridle and a Regular English Bridle.

Thanx!

Please be patient - a half hour isn't really sufficient time to get a good response all of the time.

Dressage bridles usually are sold with a flash but not always. H/J bridles usually do not have a flash but it is fairly easy to find one that does because jumpers, and eventers often use them.

The main difference between the two is obviously color. Dressage bridles are almost always black (sometimes with contrasting piping) while H/J bridles are some variation of brown.

I have a black saddle. Could you show in a black Dressage Bridle??

Taylor,
e-mail the president of the show, and ask if she could send you a copy of the rules. Tell her you're getting into English and you're not sure of the tack requirements and restrictions for their show.

If you're showing in Dressage, then yes - but otherwise, no. There's no use in using a Dressage bridle if you're not doing Dressage. I would just find a black Hunter/Jumper or Western bridle, depending on what your field is.

well a big difference for the bridle is the bit that goes in them. a dressage bit is actually 2 bits. where as h/j tend to be more simple. the dressage bridle is almost always black and they r more complex.

Some of the black H/J bridles are really expensive. I don't think they ask you if your horse is riding in an dressage or H/J bridle. This is an open local show anyway.

I am just saying but did you look on ebay?? But if its a local show I wou;dnt think they would ask really why does it matter I mean I understand in the BIG shows and compos. but in little shows I dont think it would make a differece.
