So I bought some bell boots for my girl the other day because she's been hitting the jumps and clipping herself, and also because the back of her feet get tender when it's snowy out.. but anyway, I'm just wondering, what's the way they're supposed to fit? They almost touch the ground on the back, but there's a good half inch or inch of her foot left un-covered in front.
I suppose it could also be because she needs her feet done soon?

I got them in medium, I don't think she'd be a large considering her feet are small compared to most horses.

that's how they're supposed to fit. the purpose of bell boots is to protect horse's front feet from getting clipped by their back feet if they over reach. wes wears them, and his fit the way you described fiona's. :D

if she just started clipping herself in the front U/S and O/F I'd take a closer look at the way her feet are being done. If she's overdone (like you mentioned) or being trimmed improperly it can lead to forging and over-reaching.

I know that horse's that have front shoes can wear them beacuse it helps not make the front shoe come loose.

Dixiegirl, her horse already has bell boots and she knows why she needs them - she's asking how they fit, not what their purpose is.
