but i think im going to start doing a bit of western with wes. i have all the tack (it was given to me when i bought him) and i know the basics of it. wes does do a jog trot, i taught him :P so i think i may start doing a little bit of that with him, to change it up some, and do more trail riding.
what do yall think?
(i know, he's a thoroughbred, but he's getting so bored doing the same thing, and i prefer to trail ride in a western saddle anyway :])

I know it use to seem ridiculous to you but if you feel it would be right for him and he would benefit from it (as he is having his work abit more varied) I don't see why you shouldn't :)
You can do much canter work with him, can you? I think I will love having the change and you would probably be a lot more comfortable trail riding.
I don't really see the harm with flicking between the two! :p

Ooh, I think it would be good, Manda :]. Wes has a nice build, and cross-tarining helps build new muscles and a new mindset :].

Whatever you feel like doing, you should go for!
Isn't it funny that this isn't an admin thread and only mods responded? =P

haha not yet at least :p . But go for it! I think he'll love the mental break, and it's always fun to try out a new discipline. Make sure to take tons of photos, and let us know how it goes.

This is just cracking me up that only the mods are responding to this.

oh i'll definitely take pictures, i'm sure it'll be a sight :P
but thanks guys, i think he'll enjoy it because (i think it was skip) said that wes can't do a lot of canter work, so we have to change it up a bit :D
