5 yr old,15.3 1/2 hand (he will most likely grow more), registered TB gelding. Wintari has been on the track and is looking for a new job. He would make an excellent Eventing horse, or anything else. He would also be very good at speed or gymkhana events. Wintari is a sweet, friendly young horse. He has been started in dressage and jumping. Both are very easy for him. Today he started learning the half-pass at the walk and trot. He leg yields and can do flying lead changes very easily. (He is extremely supple and willing.) He has a nice floaty trot and a rocking chair canter. He gets along with other horses and loves people. He is usually the first one up to you in the pasture (if the other horses don't push him away!). He has been started over small fences and loves it. He even has trotted and cantered through water. Nothing bothers him. He is one of the bravest horses I've seen. For more information, pictures, and videos go to www.freewebs.com/eventingtbs/forsale. Feel free to pm me with any questions.

Cute horse. I am slightly concerned that you say he's already doing flying changes and half passes. Both are highly advanced dressage moves that require extreme collection, balance, and suppleness. THe horse pictured is lacking a topline and in the other pictures is moving in a training level frame.

These movements take a lot out of even a fit horse and are rarely introduced before the age of 7-8. You might want to change his ad to something more like "solid training level dressage horse who's played around with some more advanced movements which he willing attempted". As the ad stands it might scare away a dressage purist who'd be concerned with the method by which this horse has been brought along.

Just a thought.

Good luck selling him, he really is a very handsome boy. You might want to stick him again and see if he isn't actually under 15.3. If he's just a smidge below that, he would be very sought after as a horse for the small childrens (which maxes at 15.3), while a 15.3 1/2 horse misses this market but would be at the very bottom for a large childrens horse.

Don't forget to post ads at local feed stores, and show grounds, they tend to bring in a lot of potential buyers.

Let us know how it goes

He does flying lead changes all on his own. When I canter him down the road he'll switch sometimes. He has been on the track for two years and has learned how to do lead changes. They usually teach TBs to switch leads so they don't run the entire race in one lead. Smetimes if I ask him to move his haunches over at the canter to straiten he'll switch also. I know how much balance, collection, and suppleness it takes to do a half pass. I have another TB in dressage training who is further along and just starting haunches in and baby half pass (I'm working with two really good dressage trainers). The young horse is able to easily do a half pass at the walk and he was starting to do it at the trot. I was working on leg yeilding and he was flexing both away from the way we were moving and toward. He was also stepping across and would move his haunches over more like a half pass then a regular leg yeild. So I guess that would be just playing around with upper movements. I'll have to get some videos of him doing that. The videos on the website are from last fall when I first brought him home.

This horse is going to Texas August 20 and at that time his price will be going up. He is still for sale and has come along in his training. He would also make an awesome barrel/pole horse.

I don't think he's in training for barrels/poles, I think she's just saying he has potential because he's quick and responsive.

Oh, my bad :o

That's ok! He would make a good barrel horse, but I'm not training him for that. Right now he is in training for dressage and a little jumping (when I can).

Wintari is now in Canyon, TX. He is priced at $4,500. Wintari is coming along great in his training. He is doing good flying changes. They are very easy for him! Wintari has grown and is now 16.0 hands. There are now pictures of him in his profile (on mine). I am very willing to consider offers to the right home. He really needs to go. If he doesn't sell soon he will be going back to CO for the winter.

No offense, but in the video you need to slow down. Nobody's going to want a horse that they can't control. He looks a little on the skinny side, so maybe if he packed on a few more pounds and would start to gain a topline, people would be more interested in him. Maybe consider putting him in full time training with some sort of trainer, because his head is really high in the air. He looks like he has the potential to jump higher, but since he kind of pounds his feet on the ground, he may reach his highest ever at 10, and that be it because it can hurt their feet. Also, the yanking on his mouth doesn't help much. If you collect before the jump, and not sit on his back, he'll find it easier to move and easier to slow down. What you relay to a horse when you sit, is that your trying to get it to move up, so if you stay in a steady solid two point for a while, he'll find it easier to pull up through his withers.

He actually doesn't go that fast. He is just young, off the track, and is still learning how to balance. You can not take an ottb and make them go instantly slow and collected, all they have been trained to do is run. That is also why he doesn't have extra weight on, and he's growing. He is still fit from off the track in the pictures. He is actually gaining weight, it just takes a while. The topline will also come with time. He is getting better, but with high withers it is hard to tell! He naturally carries his head high, it is the way he is built. He is in training full time. I train horses, and I've trained ottbs before. ;) He does not pound the ground with his feet. He is very light on his feet, he just has very expressive gaits and is not a flat kneed mover. He is one of the most light on his feet horses I've seen. I've been working with him on jumping very little due to time. If I rode him in a two point all he would think is race, and I don't want that! He is getting better at slowing down before the jumps, but there is only so much I can do when I only jump him a few times over the whole summer! He moves very forward and uphill and I don't want to lose that jumping by making him go too slow. By the way, he is never out of control and is very easy to handle. He is just a forward horse with lots of energy. I don't know if he will ever be laid back enough for a beginner rider, he needs a more advanced rider. Maybe in a few years with a lot more riding he could be ridden by a beginner some. :)

Another update! Wintari was jumped last night/yesterday evening and did very well. He jumped a small oxar, the first time undersaddle. I will possibly be jumping him again next week and will hopefully get videos. My camera batteries decided to die last night.   I am now asking $4,000 for Wintari. He will be going back to CO next weekend. After that his price will go back up.

Wintari is coming along great in dressage as well! He just needs someone to take him and let him reach his full potential. Sadly I don't have the time, money, or need for another horse. :(

Believe me I feel your pain. We were unable to get anybody but a child pretending to be an adult, tire kickers, and unsuitable people that did not heed to the words in the ad. We don't mind keeping him a bit longer but good lord this market is HORRIBLE.
