Um, this is sort of a stupid question...

But is there any set regulation on what type of bit/tack you need to use at a Western Pleasure show? Is there a certain place I can go to read a rule book/regulations? This isn't for any specific breed show or anything. I'd be doing open shows, but my Dad's horse is JC registered.

I'm thinking about doing some local showing this summer and any information or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I've never done showing before outside of halter, so really am clueless and new to this all.

Thanks in advance! :D

If you have like a really nice synthetic saddle like a Wintec or something you can use that. All your tack has to match. Also you need to stand out in the ring so you need a bright colored saddle pad ands a shirt that almost or does match.

5 year old horses and under can have a plain snaffle and be ridden with 2 hands, horses older than five are supposed to have a curb bit of some sort, and be ridden with one hand (neck reining). But different shows have different rules...some shows allow hackamores, but it's not regulated. ou can google "western pleasure rules" and get tons of information, thats what I did a couple of years ago before I had decided what to show. I googled all the disciplines and decided on WP...just put it in quotation marks...:)
