So yesterday(sunday) i went to a show with Creek and my friend Caitlin with her horse Jazz. Creek was wonderful! He was a little excited about being at a new place. We did 3 events. Walk/trot class, a hobby horse horsemanship class(pattern class), and one barrel pennet. He did good in all of them and was listening well. In the pattern class we actually got 6th place! I was so surprised especially since he was a little nervous. It was based like this 40% on rail work, 40% on pattern and 20% on suitability of horse and rider(not sure what that means). The judge was really nice too! I think this proves that i am doing the right thing by taking things slow with him and that we belong together! :D
Here is the pattern and rules and stuff for it:

Thanks so much!! I know sixth place isnt a big deal but its still more than i thought i would get. What i dont quite get is how Creek(with him being not really skittish but impatient) and i beat out 6 calm steady quarter horse in that event.

I've got sixth place before too, but what matters is that you guys had fun. It's great when the bond between horse and rider deepens. I bet you guys will do even better next time. ;)

Sixth place is a big deal! In my opinion, every ribbon is imortant and even if you dont win, you learn something!
I think suitability of horse and rider means how well you guys fit eachother. Like you can tell when someone has only ridden the horse once and doesnt know them that well.
Anyways, Congrats! :D
