i'm worried that my new horse isn't drinking enough, but i think it might be because she's not 100% comfortable in her new setting yet. sometimes she also paces a little in the front of her stall when i shut her in for the night, and i think this might be because she is lonely (the next horse will hopefully come early next week) but i'm not 100% sure.

any input?

try putting apple juice in her water, or giving her beet pulp, or bran mash :D

yeah, try making a really really wet mash to get water into her system

i've never actually made bran mash before, what's a good recipe? she's already pretty pudgy for the winter, i don't want her to get tooooo fat.

if you went to the feed store and bought her a bag of bran, you could mix some bran, some grain, and some...and when i mean some, I mean lots of water...and stir it together. you could also chop up carrots and apples. Give her one or two a week, because depending on the amound of bran you give, it can take away the calcium from their bodies...but the're great to get water into them!
