Hey all i haven't been on in a long time but i ave been jumping my horse ruby a lot lately in the arena i ride in. But now i have a BIG fenced in feild i get to ride in and i was going to jump init but i don't have any jumps
so i was wondering how to make or where to get jumps that would be easy and somewhat cheap. my friend and i were thinking we could jump coolers, like the big long blue ones because that is teh height i have been jumping, but i didn't think it would work well...
and i needed to think up a course to jump also. any advise would help :p

If you're dad is really handy with tools [mine is haha] then he should be able to make you some boxes, some standards and some poles. The hardware store should have everything you need. [:
If not, you could always use hay bales [the small ones, that come in rectangles already cut into flakes] or barrels. Really, anything you find that's the right height for you and isn't dangerous can be used. ^^
It depends what kind of course you're doing - hunter or jumper, or if you're working on gymnastics or collection/extension, transitions ... the list goes on. Just make sure you have the normal amount of strides in lines, and that's really important for grids. If you don't know how to measure the distances, just leave it out of you're course. [:
Anyways, for starters you could set up a fence on the quarter line, one or two on the diagonal and then an outside line. If you have jumps that can be jumped both ways, you can actually do quite a bit with this simple set up.
Other than the normal quarter line, diagonal, outside line, quarter line you could throw in some roll backs or halt back ups, or trot in trot out of lines or even canter in halt, back up and then continue.
Happy jumping!!
