i didn't get to talk to my teacher this week on what kind of saddle i should get. all i know is it has to be leather it has to be show proof and is high quality but not so expensive. now you might think "April why can't you di this by your self?!?!" well the reason is i dont know what i show saddle looks like!! this (if the pic shows up) is what the saddle looks like that i rode in my last show. can you tell me what its called or anything about what i should be thinking about buying??
buy a crappy saddle for cheap or a nice one i can grow with?

I would highly recommend Wintec's! They are awesome, and are water proof. Thay are not that expnensive (the Wintec 500 is what I have and it was $450 I think... and the Wintec 2,000 is a more empensive model. Hope this helps! ;))

If you show hunter/jumper I would say by a close-contact cause it seats you differently than an all- purpose does, and I think close-contacts are more comfortable and look more professional

There really isn't such thing as a show saddle. The saddle you show in is the one you also want to train in so you will break it in and be comfortable :)
Leather is great and traditonal, but Wintec's are also really nice because it's less upkeep and they look good on the horse.
If you do want to stick to leather, nothing wrong with that, I would go for something like Stubbens, Corbets, Pessoa's...Dover Saddlery has a wide selection. I'm not saying you should buy a brand new one, because those brands are very expensive, but I would find the one you like and than look for a used one.
As I always say, though, talk to your trainer! They know you best as far as riding and showing goes! :D
Hope my advice was somewhat useful! ;)

The saddle pictured is an all purpose. Those are great saddles for smaller shows, but the bigger the show, the more of a need to get select discipline saddles. What are you planning to show? What size seat do you need? Any color specifications? Just wondering because Casper2002 has a really nice black Blue Ribbon saddle for sale. It's only been used for shows and is in show shape. It's one that you can go up to intermediate shows and breed shows, but if you want to go to the top shows like congress and world, I would suggest a really nice one.
The ones they usually show in for the top shows range anywhere from $1000-$5000+. If you're not looking to go that high, then a nice looking all purpose saddle will be just fine. The one Casper has is a HUS saddle and corrects positioning for better posture. It's still not completely broken in.
The bad thing about the horse market (when you're looking for a brand new saddle) is you pay for quality. Do as much research as you can before you commit. There are some brands to look for and some to be leary of, so you just need to get familiar with those brands.
Hope this helps.
