It's a Tex-Tan Hereford 15.5" western pleasure saddle. I know there's been a couple people looking for a new western show saddle, so I thought I'd post here.

There's a lot to say, yet not much about it. The pictures pretty much say it all. It was used on the World QH circuit about 10 years ago and I bought it from the original owner 5 years ago.

There are a couple flaws. The fenders have normal wear and tear from regular riding, a water stain just under the seat on the left side, and some dye on the seat. I was at a show on a hot and humid day and the color from my newly dyed jeans stained the seat. Not really much else that's wrong with it.

Its silver is professionally cut and fitted to match the tooling (hand tooled). The only reason I'm selling is because I need a bigger seat or a smaller rear, lol.

And a close up of the tooling and the silver fitting:

$600 is my asking price. I've agreed with someone else that we'd ship at the same time (money order or check and the saddle) and if you didn't want the saddle I'd pay to have it shipped back and just tear up the check or cash and send back another money order. So pretty much, the buyer pays shipping, but if they feel they want/need to send it back I'd pay the return shipping. There are no absolute claims on it, but I know that Creek is interested in it.

You can either PM me or post on this thread if you know anyone or you would like more information.

It's hard to find a good quality show saddle for so little nowadays. I really worry about the people buying the cheaper saddles to stay in budget. They are extremelly poorly made. Whoever created the cheaper saddles didn't put into consideration that the larger the seat size, the heavier the people tend to be. If that person is heavy and they have an ill fitting saddle they are going to cause some major damage to their horse. Beware of any saddles being sold new as a package. here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Gorgeous-Show-Western-Horse-Leather-16-Saddle-Tack_W0QQitemZ110285014490QQihZ001QQcategoryZ47295QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I wish someone would put that into a letter to all the big name saddlery's, maybe they could come up with some less expensive saddles...for the horse's sake!!! I wish I could afford a nice one but I'm saving up...

Unfortunately, even though the horse market has floundered, the need for saddles is still very high. I don't think they will go any lower. I know Tex-Tan has some nice inexpensive saddles on their website.

I heard Tex-Tans are nice saddles and not to much $$

They are. The website has a lot of nice show saddles for under $3000. You cant even get a 5 year old worn out Dale Chavez for less than $3000. Tex is a good brand, it's one step lower than a Circle Y, but I kind of prefer them, they don't have that silly twisted wiring around the cantle.
