The other day i had a lesson. every thing was great untill i got on... i had noticed her not really listening to me at the begining but i dind't think it would escalde to where it went. she just hand galloped the intire canter! i would check her every three strides but as soon as i released the riens she would take off again!!!!!!! then my teacher said we should do some dressage.....the pattern was like a surpintine (can't spell) and we would sit trot pick up right lead canter then curve around the the other side of the surpintine then do a simple change curve over to the other side of the surpintine then halt back 4 spaces turn on the huanches then rising trot back tracking what we just did. but Hannah flew all the way through it and would lean way to heavy in the bit and i didn't know whow to controle her. HELP! any questions just leave a comment and i REALLy need your advise. sorry its SO long :|

I think your horse needs a good dose of whose boss!!! :D Do some exercises before you get on. Lunging, halter work. What I do is get a long whip (like a lung whip) and walk with my horse. I stop when ever I feel like it. If my horse isn't paying attention. I tap him on the butt and continue. You probobly know this stuff but going back to the basics can really help. Also doing ALLOT! OF serpentines at the trot helped my high strung mayer slow down and listen whaen she was rushing! hope that helps!!! :D

I agree with hoovesfirst. Whenever my horse is being a butt,(like rearing or not listening to the bit or something) i get off and lunge her. I also make sure I get the point across that she was doing something wrong. Make your horse keep going on the lunge line until she(or he) slows down and becomes more calm. then again, i don't do a bit of dressage, so something may be different with that. anyways, try it out!

I agree with everyone who said lunging [not to say it again but...] lunge your horse so that she isn't too spunky but will go but not to fast, kind of like wearing her down a little, not so much that she won't go under saddle, but just enough so that she won't take off to get her energy out...

I have a horse that dose that, so what i do if she doesn't relax much after lunging [little energizer bunny of a horse] when i am working serpentines and if she tries to speed up trot her in circles like four leaf clovers and figure eights changing the sizes of the circle so she will have to think that she never knows when she is going in a straight line.

Also you said she was pulling on the bit...i would work on [dressage term...i think] getting her 'on the bit' so that she collects and is very soft on the bit, also work on flexing her head to either side of her body, getting control of her quarters, and i think that is about it

hope i didn't confuse you...
