I don't like it. I find the black background hard to read and the graphic at the top is kind of wierd. It seems very amateurish.

Yeah I would say points would be the most important thing. I wish points were put up within a week of the show being over with. I know in the summer that there are a lot of shows and points to enter but its nice to know your standings, and have current ones through out the season.
They should also definately have a link to canterculture. :)

A link to canterculture.com is a great idea. and I think points up in a week would be a good idea. Like right now I am hoping I am going ok but I have no idea because I haven't seen my points all season. I also think that there sould be a link on there to nominated the special end of the year awards to make it easier to nominate people. Also there sould be a link to local horses for sale. And a record of what went on at the meetings, a way to get the members more incvolved in rule changes and stuff would be to have a online ballot to vote on them. Also a link on the side so that memebers can give there suggestions on what they think sould happen in the OHJA.

Those are excellent ideas! Did you email the person to contact from the OHJA website?

Thank you all for your responses so far on the website. Just so everyone knows, the links are in progress. We will be having a link for points, membership applications, USEF/USHJA websites, and more. Please DO send your ideas to our webmaster and they will get to the Board. As for the appearance, the plane is not permanent- it is there as a banner to let everyone know that we are up. Points will be posted at the Mother's Day show. As for getting them online--our membership secretary doesn't get points from shows until 1-3 weeks after the show is over. Rest assured, the OHJA is working constantly to hear what the members have to say! Don't hesistate to email a Board member!!!

I really don't agree. I think that it states all about it. And adding colorful and interesting graphics makes it unique!!! I made a webiste with my friends before and it was very fun!

Hello,
As the webmaster for OHJA I have totally redone the site. There is an entirely new user interface and new color scheme. I have added new pages and there will be a new monthly newsletter, plus there is an updated complete approved show schedule.
I have received many messages and seen posts here on Canter Culture as to hard to read fonts. I am sorry to report that it is not the websites fault, but the user graphic setting on most computer systems that causes this problem. The site is programmed with 14 point MS Trebuchet font and my system is set up with 32 bit highest color display. A lot of the problems come up when there is not enough memory on a graphics card to get the high end graphics. Other than that there is another setting in the web browser under the Internet Settings tab that you can set to use either windows colors or web page colors. This may help fix the problem.
I hope this clears up any confusion.

If I am trying to send a Thank You card to the OHJA board, what would be the best way. I can't find an address for anything!
Thanks,
Amy Mitchem :)

It's plain, but it's professional - the simplicity really works. :)

It's off to a good start with content. I'd say you could spice it up a bit with some good color combinations. Do a search for Lynda Weiss as she's a great graphic designer and offers some really neat color combinations and their hex codes so you could just plug in the bgcolor, font, link, etc and test our different looks.
Hope this helps! I'm an Oregonian and so missing the great Pacific Northwest weather right now! But fall in Virginia is lovely too.
Kudos on your new site!!
