Today I was riding Dutch out, and he was all keyed up since it was really nice out, not too hot not too cold and he was going fast, so I started doing patterns to distact him and keep his mind on me since I couldnt stop him that well (we were in an open feild) and that was working great. But I did this one pattern a Zig Zag pattern, and he started cantering doing the pattern and his flying lead changes were amazing and really tight, so I let him go as fast as he wanted, and w/ each flying lead change he got faster and faster I was and still am really surprised because this horse is kinda clutzie.

lol whats kinda ironic is I was talking to my mom saying I need to take a pole bending class at blue lakes (a big contesting barn) to see if he can even do it. Now I am really courios abut what he did before he came to peggy.

Well he sounded as if he was really enjoying that! Maybe he was enjoying the change and mental stimulation. You may as well try the pole bending, anything is worth a go once!!

If only horses could talk, eh!

lol I took Dutch to a barrel class, and he did fine at the pattern. He was amazing at trailering, and he walked right into it like he lived in the trailer, and when we got there, he was sooo soooo good!!! He wasnt nervous (even though I had that whole nervous excitement going on) and relaxed his leg while I was tightening his guirth. When the barrel horses were acting really stupid, dancing around, and just being bad right next to him he still had his back leg relaxed and was looking at them like "wow you guys are really dumb" He was great w. them he didnt care that they were really close, in face he really wanted to meet them, he's a social butterfly haha.

But for the class part, I didnt do so well, the turns were really wide, and I was getting absolutly no critisism, no help, no nothing. Haha peggy my boss (who was watching) was biting her toung the whole time, and at the end of the class she just said "I'm giving you a lesson, since tom just stood there and did nothing. You didnt even get a full hour because of the hot headed horses, and him draging the arena for 15 mins."
