Yea, so I'm pretty pumped. I'm finally getting lessons and my aunts agreed to pay for them, so it's awsome. If I get enough money I might double up on them, I don't want to be a little brat and drain my Aunt's pocket =p Anyway to the point, lessons have been good, I've only had two so far, but they both weren't for a full hour. First time I had to make the boat and the secound time I was late and she's trying to get me used to the way profession
al lessons work. She's a good rider and has been doing lessons for people for a while so I'm not worried about that, and I live on an island so I don't have to worry about getting rides intown and such. So I plan on staying with her until I advance past her lessons/horses there, or if I become seirous enough to need more lessons than once a week (which trust me I want). Daghh, I wish I could drive so I could have lessons more! I live in Maine (my trainer and her family all live on the same island, parents grew up together, etc.), but like I said she's in college so we do it every Sunday. We don't have a ring either, a grass spot that's a reasonable size except it's slightly bumpy/hilly in a few spots and some of it get wet and stays wet, plus you don't have the easyness of a track and letter and those other little things that make life so much easir. But in the end it'll make me a much much stronger lesson, and it's not like I can ride just once a week. I work there so I can ride whenever and stuff, just wish we had more of a normal set up... But you know it works, and I'm lucky to have the oppertuniy.. Woah, this is something you'd usually see in a blog... Sorry, well hope I didn't kill you reading this!
Well now that I filled you in on the lesson and I'm bored, I'll fill you in on me and Joe's ride yesterday. I did some lounging, actaully it was my first time lounging alone. So it went alright, I realised why some people like to use whip instead of slack (which I usually use), it went alright. I kinda had a brain cramp and couldn't figure out how to make him go the way he didn't want to so some pointers or something on that would be great, not sure what's happening with my lessons this week because Easter's on Sunday and she still hasn't called me so I doubt it's happening tonight. It took me a while before I could finally get him to canter which I wanted him to do before our ride so he'd get his kinks out because he hasn't done it in awhile, at first it was a buck canter thing but then we got a nice pretty canter. So after the lounging session (which I hope gets better next time, I was probably just nervous about screwing him up), we walked some circles of me checking myself then did some trotting. After that I left our little make shift ring cantered up the hill to the ball feild walked around that a little then did a nice canter there and trotting. We had a quit a few little fights so he was sweat, which I didn't realise how bad so I was trying to walk him out ending it good he'd start trotting or cantering and I'd have to take a bit to get him to walk. We brought me up this small steep hill, almost through the gate way were a car was like 3 feet behind, and up another small hill. Then almost into the woods, and into the woods. One time he, so I jsut held on. A big part of it was my fault, he's young I worked him hard and he got frustrated. It'll deffeintly go better next time, I haven't ridden him out of a lesson in awhile so it was my fault, BUT vacation is this week so I'll be sure to ride him. Well, this kinda dragged on really long.. If you actaully read all of this bad English: Woah, thanks.
