So this is a long story kinda so i will try to make it short...

My friend at the barn has a new 2 year old gelding that she just got a week ago for free and he is amazing he could do anything. Well his half brother is being giving away too and he looks almost like him and has the calmest temperament too. Im seriously thinking about getting this horse as a project horse.

I work at my barn and pretty much dont pay anything to pay for board for Creek than all i would have to worry about is vet/farrier bills. I also work at mcdonalds part time which i am saving money pretty well right now. This is how i figure it:

Vet(both horses)-$300 for shots, sheath, floating(not including other shots throughout the year)
Farrier(both horses)-$80 every 6-8 weeks
Worming(both horses)-$20 every other month

Im not jumping into anything right now im just wondering what your guys opinion is...Thanks

Well I say if you have the money and time to pay attenchon to both creek and the new guy, go for it =)

If you're financially secure enough, and have the time to devote to both horses, I say go for it.

I agree with the others. If worse does come to worse atleast you'll have improved the horse and he didn't cost owt in the first place so you'll make a profit (as harsh as it sounds!!)

I think i am going to go for it. This horse seems perfect for me and if something does happen to where i have to sell him i can make a profit.

If you have the money and time then why not? That's always what I have to say when it comes to acquiring new horses. :)

if your just going to barely make the cut each month, then no. dont bring anothere horse into it. make sure you a nice chunck of extra money each month in case of emergency. we all know how they love to hurt themselves XD

good luck! i sure hope you can buy this horse :D

Ditto with the others. If you know you can afford it and you know you have the time then go for it. You'll reget missing the oppertunity if not! :p

i think you will regret if you dont do it, but also deffinately make sure you have plenty of extra money in case of emergency.

and as long as you have the time, remember creek cant have 100% of your attention anymore.

but i would personally go for it!!!

Thanks everyone for your input! I definally think im going to do it. And Creek probably wouldnt mind not getting all my attention any way he will probably just go and pig out on grass. lol

No matter what i will never in a million years get rid of Creek he is always my first priorty(sp?).

Horses get into all manners of things! This year we had colic, choke, and puncture wounds. So as long as that is remembered all will go well I believe. Have fun with that horse and don't forget to show us pictures. :D

I know Creek well enough that(knock on wood) he has never had anything serious happen to him. He has always been healthy as a horse(lol sorry bad pun).

I think i would have to worry more about the new horse since he is 2 and doesnt know many boundaries and all that. First thing would be to make sure he knows the boundaries and has manners.

I promise to take pictures once i get him and my camera fixed(bad luck with cameras usually twice i have broken the lens on cameras)

Wow, you lucky duck!

Sounds about like my Thoroughbred. He's never had anything go on aside from ulcers since we have had him. It is good to have ones like that, lol! My Mom's mare has been the creature who needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap this year.

haha you guys are lucky, Dutch Boy plays hard and at least once a week he has new cuts on him (nothing major) but it's still enough to get annoying haha.

So are you going to get the horse? Like everyone said take lotss of pics once your camra is fixed!

He's adorable. A few names that came to mind while looking at his pictures were Toby, Diesel, and Prince.

Good luck with him.

I think im going to wait until he gets here to name him but maybe diesel thats a cute name and it might fit him. Its been over a week since i have seen him so i just want to make sure it fits.

I have to wait a couple weeks for him to come cuz of job issues but hes coming :D
