View Full Version : Best bell boots?

So my mare has shoes, and I keep bell boots on her otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before she pulls a shoe. I went through 3 or 4 pairs of normal, generic style bell boots that Velcro before I gave up with those, seeing as she always gets rid of at least one, or tears the Velcro, then it’s completely useless. So, I got the hard-to-get-on all-rubber bell boots that literally takes 2-3 people to put the things on, and they are supposedly horse proof…my mare has gotten hers off twice!

So, my question is, does anybody know of an awesome bell boot out there that my mare may have a chance of keeping? Thanks in advance for the help!

Oh, and these are what I currently use.

I think those that don't have the velcrow are the best if u keep the bell boots on 24/7. Thats kinda weird how she can get the non-velcrow ones off. Maybe you could try a smaller size non-velcrow ones unless the smaller size rubbs her the wrong way. Hopes this helps :)

Maybe try buying them in bulk just in case. There has to be a store that sells horse stuff in bulk.

I had the same problem with Wes. When he wore his shoe, I had to put bell boots on him because he's a goof. He never got them off, per say, he'd just destroy them.

I never liked the non-velcro ones because they seem to rub the hair off their legs.

I also used non-rubber bell boots, they were a nylon type deal (not too sure, I don't remember) and he did okay with those, because they didn't tear like the rubber would.
