I rescued 2 horses 1 week ago, a 7 yr morab gelding and a 4 yr arabian mare.
Lice, Diarea, 200+ under weight, the list goes on.
My problem is with the mare. She snaps her head side to side and bites at her stomach. At first i thought colic, but she has good gut sound, no fever, not rolling or kicking at her belly, and she had diarea the first 4 or 5 days.
Some sugested wobbles, Im not so familiar with that but what i read ( she is totally cordinated and has a beautiful extended trot. No falling over or looseing her balence, no paralisis evident. I almost thought she was weaving but i really dont hink that is it either. Maybe just a terrible habit, maybe damage to her intestines from the worms. I dont know, she does it when running and playing, when eating and even when being patted. Any idea anyone.

is it just to one side or to both?

Both sides, I will try to give a play by play.
She drops her head low and pins her ears back. her nose is lower then her stomach, then she swings to the right bites at her stomach and snaps back around to the left and again bites at her stomach. She does this repeatedly 5 or 6 times and then trots off like nothing even happened.

Is there any sorness where she is napping?
Could it be flies bothering her? (my rescued pony does it when flies are about!)
If she has got her ears back when she does this, there is something troubling her! Could the lice or midgies be back? I have spent the last year getting rid of lice off my pony, It's a nightmare! Make sure you put louse powder over your grooming kit, head collar and any other rug/ tack you have used on her!
Another good way for treating lice ect is frountline (cat/ dog flea spray blue & white bottle) you can buy this over counter at the vets! It works great on horses!

You could alway give your vet a call, he might be able to help just over phone!

I would guess the damage from the worms. Does she do this when she eats? Does she kick out at all when she eats? they can be a sign of pain, and if it happens when she eats as well that could be a sure sign.

Sorry I'm not of much help

i would be inclined to get a worm count done also ask your vet to take some bloods
