What kind of pony would you like to train it into? If you want a childs pony, a green would be the last one on your list, but u can train it to be a childs pony.

to train a young horse have a good rider ride it almost every vday to get out and have her/him work on lead changes, jumpes(when ready) and all the basics!!! how tall is the pony small.... medium.... large????/

For me, I would get a really experienced rider on the pony everyday to every other day and work on keeping it together at the walk and trot and when the pony will automatically be calm and know what you want it to do (bending, frames, etc.) then try it at the canter and keep it together so it doesn't run away with your daughter. I would also put some draw reins on it so that the pony doesn't root (like my pony). I would also work on halting and turns on the forehand and stuff like that. Then just make sure you let it get used to your daughter and your daughter get used to it! And if you want it to be a hunter pony, work on a really forward pace, an equitation pony you should work on a frame. Both: work on both!:)If that doesn't work, or you need more information, send AidEE a private message. She trained Acorn and he is COMPLETELY broken. A little quirks, but every pony does:) Hope that helps!!!!!

Oh-----I forgot. If you want to train it to be a certain discripline, then you should put it in training with a trainer . It will cost money, but it will be worth it! When I was looking for a pony, I almost got a black 14.2 really green gelding that only jumped 1 foot!! Then we looked at my pony ( who was ENORMOUS!) And he was well trained and doesnt do anything to hurt me. The three things you look for in a pony is: 1. Attitude-so he doesnt hurt your child. 2. Discripline- So the pony knows what your child is asking them to do. 3. Appearence- So when you go into a hunter class, the judge goes " Goregous!" and not " Ewwww."

Yeah I agree with Dubby. Training wiht a trainer can get teh best results because the pony was tarined for what it should look like at a young age

If you are tryin to train it to be an eq. pony, i would use a pellham and draw reins. it gets their nose in more!

Yea! I would so get a trainer. What kind of pony do you want it to be? Totally get a Pellham and Draw reins, I agree with PeppiPony. If you are trying to get it into a all around pony, Wow! you have allot of time and work on your hands! Good Luck!!!!!

Zep, when training, I woul duse Pellham and Draw Reins. It teaches them to do it without the draw reins and pellham for later!

I Would Even Put My Pony In Both Youngh Or Not !! When They Rae Little! They Might Not Like It And Be Scard ! Then When He Gets Older He Might Not Take His Bit That Great!
