My trainer bought a pellham pony bit that she wanted me to try. I already had a softer pellham that i am wearing him in. The bit she got was a custom pony bit with metal in the middle. She wants me to try it because my pony is rooting my arms off!!!!!!! Should I try the pony pellham or try and find a softer pellham???? Thanks!

Hi PeppiPony!
I think the mettal pellham reallly works on Time Time and he was really pulling on me too! Try it on CornCorn and see what he does! It made things allot easier for me.

I dunno...........you could try the harder one but it may hurt his mouth and then it will he would respond to the slightest touch. ( For Example : When you jump, your horse takes out from under you. So you ride with the harder one for a while. So when you are used to your horse taking out from under you and you pull back a little over the jump. If his mouth is so hard, then he will stop, run out, or even worse, throw you over the jump.) My pony did that for a while with me, when we bought him, he was in a bit for training how to walk and trot. We changed the bit and everything I said happened. So then we changed it again and now he is happyn :)! I'm not saying any of that about all of you. I would write more, but my hands are getting tired! :rolleyes:

LOL!~ The thing is is that he has cheeks of STEEL! He grabs the bit and roots and pulls so hard!

Yeah. My arms are dead after every lesson. I sacrifice my arms to make him look good!lol! I have to figt him so much! (Zep= today in the lesson i didnt jump much cuz he did 3 days of the clinic sunday, sat and ri, but i diid some 3' it was fun!)

Yeah it was fun! I cantered down te fiver stride going owards the gate and trotted up the other cross over and halted then trotted the second fence:) I did it a few times at 3':)
