Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, but I'm hoping someone can help.
There is a horse that lives next door to me, she's a 3year old paint and a sweetheart!
Today I noticed a swelling underneath her jaw. It is a couple of inches in front of where her neck meets her head and is in between the bones of the lower jaw. Its about the size of a walnut and firm.
she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms.
It doesn't seem to be an injury because its almost like there are two lumps that are so close together it feels like one, if that makes any sense. It feels more like a swollen lymphnode
The horse's owner lives in another state and my neighbor is simply letting the horse stay in her pasture. The owner's family lives in the next house over but apparently there is some sort of family feud going on and they don't speak to this horse's owner.
I'm really the only one that even pets her or pays any attention to her. She used to be pretty head shy, but I've finally gotten her to trust me to pet her.
It could be a fly bite I guess, but it seems pretty big for that. Its been ages since I had a horse so I really don't have a clue what it could be.
If I had some idea, I could maybe get the family to call a vet.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!
