Basically. Next year everyone has to wear ASTM/SEI approved helmets at the shows.

Yep this is true, even my trainer who has never owned a approved helmet in her life has gone out and bought a GPA! It's crazy but good because we don't want anymore hurt people! Haha

Yep. Might be annoying, but if it saves ONE person from a serious head injury next year it'll be worth it.

I'm kind of relieved they did it. I have also never owned an approved helmet but this will force me to go out and get one... I have been meaning to for years. They are doing a decent job now of making them kind of fun looking... it's better than the mushroom-head ones they used to have.

Ditto to that. My mom brainwashed me and my sis when we were little by watching this video that showed what would happen if you didn't wear a good helmet (appoved and such) aka DIE!!

I never used to wear an approved helmet to show in, until they changed the rules about juniors. Then I went out and bought a GPA, oh well, fun to decorate!

i don't like to wear my helmet...at home, i only wear one if i'm jumping. (but now mom is on a rampage and i have to wear one all the time.) but ONLY on my own horse...any other horse and i wear a helmet.
i have 2 ATHs, and i'm glad if we have to wear helmets that they have to be approved. what is the sense of making everyone wear helmets if they aren't going to do anything???

i think its great that they did that! even the most experienced and well trained riders suffer from tragic accidents that happen for no apparent reason. my trainer rewuire that we wear one, unless we're simply just walking around, stretching the horses legs.

Yep. I've always worn one anyway, at shows and at home. So does everyone else at my barn, including my trainer. It's just safer. Horseback riding is one of the most dangerous sports there is, and we don't exactly have padding like football players. Helmets are our only real protection, besides our brains and our knowledge of riding. I support the rule.

I think it's a good idea. I have seen many helmets save riders from really bad injuries...

Hi,
We have needed the ruling for a long time!! I am excited that it is required to be worn be everyone. The GPA's are well worth the money and the best on the market.
Ride Safe!!
