How do you size tack for the horse and rider?
How do you get your saddle "seat size"?
How do you know a saddle will fit your horse's withers?
Help me please with my endless amount of questions!

if you're looking to fit a saddle to your horse, you can get a good measure of the tree width by bending a coat hanger over the horses withers where the front of the saddle goes. then you can hold that up to a saddle and see if it will fit your horse! of course, it's always good to try the saddle on the horse before riding heavily in it.

Try it, and if it does not fit return it. (As long as it was not used a lot.) Then try the next size.

Get fitted to see what saddle size you are.

Like at this horse stor near by, you get to try it for 3 days, and you like it buy it, or if you don't bring it back and don't buy it. lol!~

i didnt have time to read all of the other replys so im just gonna answer.

saddle to rider- im not sure how to "measure" yourself, but my reccomendation is that you should be able to fit a hand in front of you and behind you on the saddle. once u find one that fits you can look at the technical measurement and know that is your size.

for the horse, you really just gotta try one on. put it on with out a saddle pad and without a girth. see if it pinches the withers anywhere, see if the contours of the front fit well and doesnt pinch behind the shoulders.

to know that it will fit the withers, look at the saddle on the horse (still no pad and no girth). see if the front (the pommel) is hitting the withers or in contact with them. also stand back and look at it from the side. it shouldnt slandt backwards on the horse, it hould be somewhat level.

sorry if that is hard to understand. if it is just message me :)

Hi there,

I would advise that if you arent that experienced in saddle fitting, to get a specialist saddle fitter, they usually have a saddle to suit and at least you'l have peace of mind that your horse is comfortable. I cant say iv ever bought a saddle to fit me, my horse always comes first. Seat savers are a great way to keep you comfortable anyway!
