I went ridin today (Thursday) and after the lesson, gave all the horses treats and stuff.
Then I visited with Cowboy (the frikin horse of my dreams!) for probably twenty minutes, give or take a few. He is such a sweet-heart. He almost fell asleep when I was rubbing his forehead and he nuzzled me :D His neck was itchy so he turned his neck so I could give him a good stratch and he loved it.
He had his leg at an odd angle (he was just resting it thankfully), so I had to walk a little further down his pen and he looked at me like, "Hey, Dude, where are you going? Don't leave me please!"
So I stood there happily and rubbed his forehead and petted and talked to him, he seemed to really enjoy the attention.
Even though Cowboy is a massive, stocky 16.2 he is a real sweetheart. He is probably the nicest horse I've ever met.
Just thought I'd tell you my quiet moment with Cowboy!!!

That's great =D Just doing things like that, petting him and hanging out with him, will help him calm down while under saddle, especially around you. I'm glad you had a good moment with Cowboy =D

Yea, I really like old Cow. He seemed to really settle in to the new barn. My trainer said that she got to the barn at 5 o'clock in the morning (I would have looked like a zombie) and then she fed all of the horses and turned them out till one in the afternoon. Isn't that awesome?! Cowboy wasn't even pawing or anything, he was soooo relaxed! I think getting outside really helped him with all that excess energy, and at the old barn there were no real "pastures" for the horses to go in and run around and just be a wild thing for a few hours.
Maybe in a couple months, once I get my confidence back, I will ask to ride Cowboy.
