View Full Version : Help my pony is lame!

:( Help last week me and my freinds was going out on a hack with cross country jumps and I took toffee and I did not check the going and it was quite hard and I put on her jumping boots and we went off after the 12 jump toffee was going BUMP in her canter and there was no holes or narrow land and we only had about 5 mins to go and 3 jumps after the hack my freind Cathrine said toffee is lame and now I soak her feet in cold water for 10 mins 5 times a-day and she has a specil laminitus shoe and I feed her on 8 kg of blue chip lami~light evrey day but is there anythig else I should do?

PLEASE HELP ME! :(

Call your vet, and your farrier...let them diagnose the lameness.

How old is Toffee? Is she's young, that may have been to much work for her, causing ouches.

Hope the poor girl feels better.

The best thing to do is call a vet out, they will diagnose what the problem is. For the time being keep your pony comfortable and relaxed and alot of TLC. I hope everything goes ok.

Okies I will And toffee is feeling a bit better I'll call out the vet now to diagonise it. Fanx for the advice :)

Fanx Moodymare Ya the best! :D And the vet is coming round in 30 mins and he told me to just soak her feet for 10 mins and try to get out and mud or dirt so he can take a proper look.

Well I have my question solved.......Toffee is lame I cant ride her for 3 months including a 1 month proper check the vet is coming round in another 2 days to see how she is getting on iv been given a gel to put under her infected hoof and iv got to put it on 5 times a-day insted of soaking her feet. The vet said ''this shoe is a good idear becouse it is lifting her infected hoof off the ground reducing the pain''. So after this I learned my lesson Always check the going before going out on a hack! :( :( :(

Keep your chin up, at least you know for next time. Hope toffee recovers very quickly and you are both back having happy riding times! :)

Hi My pony is better with the gel but I have to put it on her frog and when I put it on before I went to bed I put it on her frog and she slamed her hoof down and it hurt! I only do it very light and I want her to recover and let me do this I know the frog is sensitive but what can I do? :o :(

HELP ME! :o :(

It'll be alright in the end, and you can beat all the people at the competition and come home with 1st.I'm not sure about the hoof slamming, my pony does that when I pick her feet out, I try and hold her foot and gently ease it back to the ground gently. Ok I hope all goes well and that toffee is recovering quickly. :p

Ye she is this mornig she let me put the gel on and Iv put on a support bandage on the flesh of her cannon bone! :rolleyes: ;) :D :)

Ye just tap there nose if there naughty and they will soon let you apply stuff and the vet said I caould Take her out on a light hack in a week! as she is better! :D :D :D

Hey evreyone im allowed to let Toffee on a 15 min lesson on sunday! :D :D
Maybe just maybe I minght be able to ride her in a few weeks! :confused:
