Hey everybody,
I'm really excited because when I got my showhorse, I had everything ready to start showing her. Show saddle, show halter, etc...well, my halter was misadvertised and was a cob sized halter, so bummer with that. And my show saddle, which had fit my old horse perfectly, didn't fit her at all! So, I went to the tack store today and was amazed to find a leather "trail" saddle that looks just as good and nice as the $1200 and $1600 WP saddles I had been looking at (although nowhere near that price!). So, I was really happy, I was just hoping it fit her...I took it to the barn today to check...and it fits perfectly! I even found a matching headstall w/silver on it! Now all I need is some reins and a show halter and I'm in business! :D

Sorry so long, just excited... :D

Ha ha. Bad news. I was putting it on Star last night to see how it looked and she was acting weird, not like herself. She wouldn't stand still to let me tack up, which she has never had a problem with.

So, my trainer just happened to be there. Turns out, we thought it fit her, but that was before we tried to cinch it up. It would've pinched her withers really bad! Also, my other show saddle (that I love) which is black, does fit her, which we didn't think it did, but turns out, it's just got extra padding. So, back to black tack.

And back to the tack store, they gave me store credit, and I bought a bunch of stuff today for about $200 and they gave me a gift certificate for the rest, which is a lot!!! Over $300 left to spend...ahh, I can't wait.lol.

Cool!! Most kids are happy when they get new electronics and cds...I get excited over saddles and bridles. Last year for my b-day my employer, which I am very close to, got me used English show boots, I was SOO excited, people were like, you get excited about that?? I'm like...HECK YES!! They just don't understand the joy horses give us horsepeople.......lol. I can understand why you're happy. Congrats!!!

Do you guys know anybody who is looking for a tail extension. I have a Light grey or dark palomino one and a dark sorrel one that I need to sell. Keep me posted if you know anyone, Please.

Casper,
fake tails aren't that popular down here. Most judges don't score them very high at the shows I've seen because they don't look natural at all (no offense). My husband and I plan to hold shows one day when we have our own place and fake tails will be banned from our shows, because they also take away from the horses who do have good tails, they don't look natural, and the shows we would hold (western and english pleasure) are to show the beauty of the horse, not the beauty of the person's wallet to show how much they can buy to make their horse look better. :( And like I said, a lot of judges frown upon fake tails around here. Good luck selling them, though.

That is definately a matter of opinion. Fake tails look really good when someone does them right.

Yeah, for pictures. When the horse moves, it's totally obvious it's fake. But you're right it is a matter of opinion.

It's just strange to see them on Appys sometimes, since Appys were bred to have thin manes and tails.....
