Hullo, everyone!

While searching through various Livejournals (because i have no life...), I stumbled upon a link to this place, and decided to check it out. Having now joined and being a total new face (or username, i guess) to the boards, just though this would be a good time to introduce myself. You know, instead of just randomally beginning to post in other threads.

I'm Anna, 17 years old, from the great state of Kentucky (go cats!). My main squeeze is Corey, my 7 year old Thoroughbred gelding. He's a handsome, big, bay OTTB - I've had him about 2 1/2 years - my how time does fly! We're training in Dressage, but have not yet competed.

On the other side, my personal job is at the racetrack. I've been working for the same trainer for almost 2 years now, and have worked my way up from lowly hotwalker to exercise rider. Not that I don't do other work as well.. I'm kind of an all-purpose worker. I muck stalls, hotwalk, groom, and ride, along with all the little barn chores that have to be done (ex: laundry, clean-up, more laundry...). It's a ton of fun... and it better be since I'm there 7 days a week!

My username is named after a horse I've been working with for the 2 years I've worked for my trainer, and have been galloping since late May. You can read his quick details in my signature. It's his face you're seeing in my avatar as well. Very sexy animal, he is. Model City is his registered name, but he's known as 'Hammer,' after M.C. Hammer the former rap star.

My other interests include: reading (lemony snicket, dick francis, john grisham, j.r.r. tolkien, & childrens books), and I do enjoy the movies, though I don't normally have time to watch them in theaters. Currently, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is my favorite, though all-time favorite is The Lord of the Rings.

So, there I am. Not *the* most interesting girl, but it works for me. Look forward to meeting you all!

Lexi! *hugs*

I figured it was you when I saw your username. I only know a couple people who go by "Lexi," and you're the only one with a completely beastly (and i mean that in the good way) Thoroughbred named Max :)

:D woohoo!!! i feel special! Hows Corey been lately? I know he had colic surgery right? Or did i dream that up...

Oh goodness no! He didn't have the surgery.. we would have had to take out a loan to pay for it!

We did have to take him to Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington when he colicked quite severely. Luckily, there was no twisted intenstine.. but that was last November ('04). Since then though, he's had one minor case of gas colic, and because of it, we're on Safe Choice pelleted feed and Straongaid daily wormer. So far so good :)

We moved to a new barn several months ago - late May I think? He's VERY happy here.. gets daily turnout now which he loves. He's dappling out now as well *swoon*

How's Mister Maxwell?

mister maxwell is good! he's lost a lot of weight which IS not good so we are trying to get him to gain some weight.
