Well, as some of you may know, my horse, Star, who I just got a few weeks ago, was advertized as being trained in Western Pleasure, English PLeasure, Equitation, Showmanship, Halter, etc. She's had the same owner for her whole life (15 years) until now.

Anyhow, we just discovered she has a lot more training than they let on (her old barn owners were the ones selling her because her old owner couldn't do it herself, she had moved, it was too painful, etc.)

Here's the exciting part; not only is she trained in the events I listed above, we just found out she's trained in dressage, at least Level 2, and reining! She does 360's and skidding stops, the whole shebang.

I'm just really excited, because I went to a reining thing last night here in Jax and loved it! I don't want to do it anytime soon, but it looks like fun, so I can mess around at the barn. :)

I just can't believe this horse (who is registered AQHA) was only $2000 with all this training! My trainer suggested she was probably worth about 8-10 times that price! Oh, and may I might add, she has no attitude. None. SHe's the most willing horse I've ever ridden.

Ok, I'm done...

That is AWESOME. I work at a barn that has a lot of different horses and let me tell you, it's hard to get a mare with NO attitude that does even HALF that. You should be proud of yourself...you found a really good horse for not even CLOSE what the sellers should've asked!!

Yeah, tell me about it! :) The fact that she's gorgeous doesn't hurt, either...hehe.The seller wanted to start a family and wanted her to have a good home so I guess thats why they didn't want more for her. Also, if for any reason I have to sell her (the only reason would ever be is if I'm in the poorhouse.lol.) the lady who owned her her whole life would want to know so she could buy her back, which I totally understand. I mean, if I had a horse for 15 years that I trained and showed, then sold her to start a family, that person had better call me if they were to sell her!!! :)

Anyhow, so yeah, I've only ridden a few mares, and even though most of them have attitudes, I have to admit, she's not you average mare. :)

OOh, if anyone in Florida is looking for an Appy that is reasonably priced, let me know, I know a lady in Eustis who has one she is selling.

And my barn owner has a tri-color, blue-eyed paint mare (50/50 brown/white w/some black in her mane, tail, and a black forelock.) Definite show quality for both, or just trail. That mare is in Jacksonville if anyone is interested. :)

My horses ARE perfect...not really but it's strange..I can find so many flaws in Comanche one minute and the next, think he's totally and utterly perfect..but that's the way it is. I think when you ride them and they're yours you don't look for the bad and you don't even try to pay any attention to it. You love them for who they are.....That's what I like about my horses to, I can vent anything I'm feeling to them, they won't interupt me, or scold me, or say I'm being terribly unreasonable, they just listen. They love you no matter what, and the only thing they see in you is a partner and friend. That's why I love my horses so much....
