Are you guys beating the heat by riding early in the AM? How early have you been riding?
I got to the barn at 7:30am on Saturday but by the time I'd tacked up and warmed him up I was about to die. :( It was already too hot.
I'm aiming for getting at the barn around 6:15 tomorrow morning.

The heat where I live isn't that bad, it's only gotten up to 75 degrees. I have a lesson coming up on Wednesday at 4pm, and it's suppose to be 85 degrees :(

It was 104 when I was supposed to have my lesson on Friday (notice I said "supposed"!) The heat index has been over 110. Yuck.

Its been so hot here. I cant stand it. UGH!!*&$^&#^
I havent gotten up early lately to ride but at night it sometimes cools off like 3 degrees. Plus it usually lightly rains at like 7:00pp which cools it down a bit.

I rode around 9/10ish today and for once didn't feel overheated afterwards. I'm going to go for earlier rather than later for now on.

I'm too lazy lol, I dont ride until about 10 at night. We have lights. I read in my equus (or maybe it was horse illustrated) that horses can see really well at night so thats a good way to beat the heat if u dont want to get up that early. Its about 90% humidity here on top of about 85-90 degree heat, its so hot!

Boy.. I wish I could say it's only been in the 70's-90's here. You guys are lucky. I've been getting up at 7am now to feed the ponies. It's already about 75-80 when I go out. After that I head back down to the house and leave the ponies to roam freely in the paddock/barn aisle (this is a temporary thing to keep them in some shade 'til my stalls are done or this heat goes down a little). It's about 20 degrees cooler in the barn, so I'm sure they're loving me for that luxury. The heat index has been at 110-115 this week. I've been sick this week so I haven't been riding but when I do start riding again (hopefully by Monday) I don't plan on doing so until about 7 or 8 in the afternoon, when it cools down.

i live in FL. the heat here is unreal. i usually ride around 9ish but when the heat is bad, we have some nice woods to ride in where we can set up some log jumps and we have a shaded roundpen :p

I'm up at 6:30am riding, then going back and riding around 7pm.
And the bad part, it's fairly warm that early in the morning must of the time(at least this summer) and still warm in the evening.

It's about 1Pm here, and i'm about to head out to the barn for a nice ride.
of course i need to put my thick pants on.
haha.
i love buffalo sometimes.
yay for lakes!
although we did have some heat earlier in the summer.
and by heat of course i mean in the 90s.
but when it hits the 90s we don't ride, because we sweat just putting on a saddle, our horses aren't used to such heat. plus a really high humitity.
don't worry, i'll think of you while i take a nice ride in the afternoon! ;)
I live in CA, so it gets pretty hot. Luckly, the fog usually comes in later in the day and cools things off, so I ride later in the day. I couple weeks ago we had a crazy heat wave. In my opinion, anything above 70 degrees is too hot, so when it's 100+, I want to die lol.

We don't ride at the stables I go to until about 10 (usually...sometimes earlier) because we don't get there to feed horses and stuff until 8:30. But we feed and groom the horses first. Sometimes, we'll take a couple of horses out of their stalls and tack them up before the riders start coming (how I broke my toe, thank you dewee). But usually...around ten.
But I think that's during the school year now that I think about it. Summer's been unpredictable.

Wow this topic is old.
It's about 9 million degrees here in florida, so we either have to go super early (which never works, we end up dying.) or we ride at like 6pm, when it finally starts to cool down. :]

Mental note: never move to Florida.
Thanks Manda, hehe
