Right this is just a random post to get ideas... just as my back up plan...

I'm running out of ideas...

Well... the story is... currently im training to become a VCA (Veterinary Care Assistant) which is a step before the Veterinary Nursing course... i currently have the placement for this course but it doesnt count as full time employment.

I have a condition place at my current college also... but this requires full time employment within a approved training practice... My current practice has talked to me about keeping me, which they really want to do... but they dont have enough business comin through the door... meanin there isnt enough work for us to do and to pay me also... they say if i cant find anywhere i can stay there but some of my hours would have to be voluntary to reach my minimum 35 hours a week working...

The need for veterinary nurses is out there... its just the training they dont want... not much help really...

I sent out 5 letters to approved vets for a good distance around me, there is not many approved practices about! I have already had 3 replys back all being no as most places only take on 2 nurses at a time... not useful, eh?

So... if all else fails... i need an alternate thing to go onto... which scares me... well it dont but it does... all at the same time lol!

Do any of you have any suggestions? I need something that wouldnt really result in low pay either! Im open to any ideas... within reason... i just need something to look into... what a pain, eh? lmao

Anyways... yeah... thanks! :p

Well what are some of your interests? You have to give us some sort of starting point, because there are billions of jobs out there.

If you want to work with horses you could be:

A horse trainer (performance/pleasure/racehorses)
A farrier
A vet
An equine photographer (what I want to do @_@)
A jockey (if you're small enough.)
A horse appraiser (my trainer says this is a great way to make money.)
A stable/riding school owner
A breeder (of performance/racehorses)

and many, many others I'm sure.

A equine photographer- Dream job... should look into really... i love photograpy... especially when the photographer let me take some pics with his £2000 camera! lol... Thanks will look into that area! :p

A jockey- Im 5'10 lol... it speaks for itself!

A horse appraiser- What actually is one of those... sound interestin!

A stable/riding school owner- No money... but when im older and looking for a change of career you never know!

A breeder- Same as a stable owner really... no money! lol

You could just ride for a farm. That's what I do. I excercise the farms ponies and some of the horses. Or be a stable hand if you'd get paid enough.....Hope this helps!!

Horse appraising is a really good business to get into... but you have to be ready to network yourself with lawyers and different businesses as usually they are the ones asking for the appraisal... for divorces and such.

You could also become a barn manager. Yes people DO get paid to manage huge barns it's alot of work though, trying to get everything to run smoothly.

You could also go into holistic health practices for horses such as Chiropractic or Acupuncture, the people that are really good at this get paid the BIG bucks.

There are really alot of options out there in the horse world... go to www.amazon.com (or your local library) and look for a book called Careers with Horses.... or something similar those books usually have TONS of ideas, things you didn't even know you could do with horses.

Oh, Skip, I could see you being a jockey! :p

Dunno if anyone has said this...you could become a trainer, I mean in like this way, teaching people to ride, not training horses.

Good luck!
